We’re here to help solve the small problems, hopefully before they become big ones. Great words of advice from someone who recently contacted our helpline here. Don’t put off giving us a call; we get that it can be hard to ask for help, but we promise that our support officers are wonderful beings who will make it as easy as possible! https://lnkd.in/d8cfJwE

The only charity set up to support RICS professionals and their families through any of life's unexpected challenges
About us
LionHeart is the charity set up to support RICS professionals and their families through life's unexpected challenges. Our services range from emotional support to professional counselling, a legal helpline, help getting back to work, and, in certain circumstances, financial help. We also offer free CPD workshops on personal finance, mental health and wellbeing. We help people from the very start of their career who are studying for their APC, right through to those who have retired. Our experienced support officers and counsellors are friendly, warm and approachable, and the people we have helped tell us that picking up the phone is the best thing they did. We are funded through the generosity of past and present RICS members who care enough about their colleagues to support us. We don't get any government or other grants. Check out our website www.lionheart.org.uk to find out more about us.

Don't forget to book your place on this FREE live webinar with one of LionHeart's ambassadors.
We often use the words 'stress' and 'stressed' without thinking about them too much. Bizarre as it sounds, a bit of stress or short bursts of stress are actually quite good for us - but when you experience too much of it, and for longer periods, it can have pretty devastating consequences. As we look ahead to International Stress Awareness Week in early November, our ambassador Michael Holden will be sharing his fascinating story of heart attack and cardiac rehab, and what he's learnt about work-life balance along the way. 🧡 Join us on Wednesday November 6th at 12.30pm for what promises to be a thought-provoking online session: https://lnkd.in/dqd-vfD

A whopping 79% of adults say they feel stressed at least once a month, so understanding our stress ‘triggers’ is a great step in managing it, especially at work. Join us next week as we mark International Stress Awareness Week with these three free webinars. Booking is on the website, where you’ll also find details of how else we can support surveyors struggling with stress: https://lnkd.in/dqd-vfD

Amazing to be at the Welcome to the Profession ceremonies in Westminster today to congratulate the latest batch of newly qualified MRICS! Even better to hear from those who had used LionHeart's APC and other support along the way. Our head of development Melissa Gough-Rundle LLB (Hons) is pictured here with Penny Di Cristina MRICS who said our practice presentation support was "fabulous" 🙌 Our congratulations to all!

Step by step - what a great message! We were able to help Antian Huang MRICS along her APC journey. Can we help you on yours?
I am happy to share that I passed my APC! Thank you to Jack Hudson MRICS for being my mentor. A big thank you as well to Jack Hudson MRICS and Amy Meyrick for arranging my valuation placement, which gave me the opportunity to learn from Emma Sheldrick MRICS, George Harber MRICS and John Martin. During my preparation, I was also fortunate to receive incredible support from our Junior Board APC team— Abby Penfold, Charlotte Beswick and Nicholas Beven MRICS. Their dedication to sharing knowledge every week gave us invaluable insights into the level of expertise required to become an MRICS. Abby Penfold, in particular, offered me her thorough feedback and ensured that my presentation was up to standard. I am also grateful to Matt Goldsworthy MRICS for taking time to support me. The Prelim Review can often feel isolating, especially for those of us who are not graduates and don’t have a structured study. But I was lucky to have support from my study buddy Ben Bhagwat-Brown. Ben's exceptional knowledge always impressed me! Thank you for being an inspiration! Finally, I want to take a moment to recognise the personal resilience this journey required. I chose a path that very few take, moving forward step by step. But each small step was progress. As a non-native English speaker, I’ve always known that it takes me longer to complete a task, whether it's preparing a 10-minute presentation or absorbing large volumes of material. What might take others half a day often takes me three full days of focused effort. The anxiety and sleepless nights leading up to the exam were tough, but the dedication to finishing what I started kept me going... and LionHeart RICS also helped me a lot. Thank you! I hope my journey can serve as a source of encouragement for others, especially those who, like me, are non-native English speakers or do not take a RICS accredited degree. If you're pursuing the Prelim Review or preparing for APC as a non-native speaker, please feel free to reach out— I’d be more than happy to offer any support I can. I do know how hard and struggling it was when preparing for APC! #RICS #MRICS #CareerProgression #Residential #PrelimReview #Reflection #Gratitude

What a fab day we've had at the Sava Residential Surveying Expo in Coventry today! Our support services manager Bena Kansara, and Rakhee Sharma from our partnerships team have loved chatting to attendees about the support LionHeart can offer them now and throughout their future careers. It's also been brilliant to catch up with some familiar faces, including many of our partners, supporters and ambassadors! Thank you too for some generous donations we've received - special shout-out to Zoë Baker AssocRICS DipRSV VRS MRPSA and Garrett O'Hanlon FRICS from Your Surveyors, who have been giving out copies of their best-selling book 'The £5 Billion Homebuyer Secrets Guide' in exchange for a donation to LionHeart 🙏 We hear that our stalwart fundraising champion Adrian Drummond, MRICS and his SDL Surveying colleagues *may* also have used their presentation slot to start drumming up support for the 2025 LionHeart Challenge.... watch this space, if you dare 👀

Recent APC panel results are starting to come in thick and fast and it's been brilliant to hear some success stories, especially from people we've helped. What you don't always see on social media is the disappointed ones who didn't make it (this time). We've said it before and we'll keep saying it: some of the most successful surveyors take more than one go to get chartered. But don't just take our word for it. Watch the video below to find out how some of our APC ambassadors felt when they were referred - and what happened next...
