Providing free real-hair wigs for children & young people + funding research for better treatments for childhood cancers

About us

The Little Princess Trust is a charity based in Hereford, supplying real hair wigs free of charge to children and young people who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment and other medical conditions. Started in 2006 in memory of 5-year-old Hannah Tarplee who sadly lost her own battle with cancer the previous year, the charity helps those with cancer - up to the age of 24 - with as many wigs as necessary for the duration of their treatment and hair loss. For those aged up to 24 with hair loss due to other conditions the charity also provides free wigs when possible, to help with the associated trauma.
Since its inception, the Trust has given away 10000 wigs; a number which increases every day. The charity also funds research into the provision of innovative and less aggressive and less toxic childhood cancer treatments. The Trust receives thousands of donations of good condition hair from all over the world, which are then used to make wigs. Around 14 hair donations are required to make a single wig. Although the charity can accept a minimum hair donation of 7”/17cm in length, the greatest demand is for hair that is over 12”/30cm which will naturally make much longer wigs. From receiving hair donations at our office, through to fitting and styling a bespoke wig, it costs the charity from £550 to provide a real-hair wig free-of-charge, to our wig recipients. We currently supply over 150 wigs every month. The Little Princess Trust needs financial donations as well as hair donations, in order to fund the actual manufacturing of the wigs and wig-fitting service.

  • The team here at LPT have had an Aderans-filled weekend, with not one but two events held in aid of our mission! ✨ Friday night saw the return of the annual Aderans UK Fashion show - an evening to celebrate the courage and confidence of women with hair loss, and the wonderful wigs that Aderans' create. The second event was a black tie ball, kindly organised by the Aderans Midlands team - and in total, the events combined have raised over £4,000 for us! As ever, the whole LPT team are incredibly grateful for Aderans continued support, we’re already looking forward to next year 🥰💜

  • Jennie, one of our ambassadors, has been growing her hair out for LPT since her last donation back in 2021, and it’s safe to say she has absolutely smashed it! This time, Jennie went to fellow LPT Ambassador, andrew barton, to make the big chop, where she donated an amazing 17 inches of her hair and raised £343 in the process 💜 Jennie told us: “I love being able to raise awareness of The Little Princess Trust, knowing how much joy they bring to the wig recipients.” We are so grateful to have Jennie on board as an ambassador and we all know her generous donation will make a huge difference to our mission of giving Hair and Hope ✨

  • Team LPT had such an enjoyable weekend at Salon International 2024 last weekend! 💜 Without barbers, hairdressers, and stylists, our mission of giving Hair and Hope simply wouldn’t be possible, so it was great to meet more hair professionals and people in the industry to spread the word about what we do and how they can get involved. Huge thanks to Hairdressers Journal International for all of their support and for helping us to be a part of this fantastic weekend!
