Today is Remembrance Day and a time for us to pause to honour the brave men and women who have served and sacrificed for our country 🇬🇧 This day holds a special meaning for our team, as one of our own, Helen Maxwell, was a proud military wife for 22 years! 🚨 PRODUCT SPOTLIGHT 🚨 Our client, needed us to find a solution that made printing easier on the bottom of a round product 🖨️ So, what did we do? We worked with them to build a few trial systems, finding the winner was a flat PU belt conveyor with a gripping surface. A slammer holding conveyor above, perfectly matched in speed, held the item through the print head perfectly. Often conveyor solutions are vague and can take trial and error until the solution is found. We often work with clients on difficult problems using bespoke design methods to create a solution 💪

🚨 PRODUCT SPOTLIGHT 🚨 Our client needed us to find a solution for their mould trimming station, a heavy pneumatic tool which is used to trim off plastic ⚙️ So, what did we do? We built an XY gantry for a tool hanger on shouldered nylon rollers. The tool is now supported on a spring hanger, operating in a 2 metre squared area, fully supported. Although power and air are available in this area, we felt unpowered movement would be the simple option, giving the area more mobility to adjust the layout as required per product 🔧 This trial is a massive success and has reduced fatigue on the operators 💤 The next stage is to make the station rise and fall to suit different height operatives 📈

🚨 PRODUCT SPOTLIGHT 🚨 Our client, a pharmaceutical automation company, approached us to build a pilot enclosure for their powder testing robots ✅ So what did we do? We worked alongside the customer to develop a concept design. The concept required over 500mm of height adjustment, whilst retaining a smooth outer face aesthetic. We developed a frame within a frame to achieve this, making use of our 8mm T slot system to the maximum 📈 The unit and robot are heavy so the design had to employ robust 45 x 90 mm sections to handle the loads and the dynamic actions on the robots 🦾 The customer also required the unit to match existing equipment they supply, so we powder coated the aluminium and stainless steal to match their current RAL colouring 🔥

No we're not biased but we want to talk about why aluminuim is the better choice for modern projects 🔥 When choosing materials for a project, two of the most commonly debated options are aluminium and steel 🛠️ Both materials have their strengths, but in many cases, aluminium emerges as the better choice, especially for projects that require lightweight, durability, sustainability, and corrosion resistance. 🚨 PRODUCT SPOTLIGHT 🚨 Our client approached us to find a solution to protect their staff in a blow moulding robot enclosure, but still give them access to load and unload the robot 🤖 So what did we do? A bespoke pneumatic sliding door guard of course 🔥 The existing area incorporated a light beam that did not prevent trim pieces ejecting from the area when the robot was in operation. A sliding Perspex screen was required but operating it and type of operation needed, proved to be the challenge. After observing the process and interviewing the operators, a simple pneumatic rod to operate the door with a safety circuit and safety strip below the door to prevent trapping, was the simplest most cost effective solution 📈 We used an off the shelf pneumatic cylinder and designed then CNC machined bespoke brackets to fit 👇
