The Devon team had some great results with the #GPR on Monday. We ventured across the border into deepest Cornwall to find a water main. The drawing provided by South West Water had it placed to one side of the plot and was keeping the material/diameter a closely guarded secret through the wizardry of encryption... or a scaling issue. Despite finding some very old valves we had no joy with the Radiodetection Ltd RD8100 and had to use our Guideline Geo #Mala Easy Locator Core. We weren't able to find the entire length through the site due to obstructions and simply not being able to see anything in the data. But we were able to catch some great targets. Unfortunately, for the owner of the plot, we found it running right through where they hope to build a house. With a shovel on hand the owner was able to dig down and confirm our findings; the software did a great job of estimating the depth and the trace was spot on. It's not always easy finding smaller diameter plastic mains, especially in saturated Cornish soil but we were really happy with the results. We also ticked Philp's Famous Pasties off of the list on the way home too! We're putting it in our top 3 so far. If anyone has any pasty recommendations? We're keen to try them all!

We've had a great week learning new skills and honing others at The Survey School on the 5 day land surveying course. We'd like to extend a big thanks to John Fraser MEng FCInstCES and Leica Geosystems part of Hexagon for putting two of us on the course.
