The Autumn Budget has left many in social care reeling, and rightly so. In the latest edition of the Handover, Sam Hussain breaks down the Autumn Budget’s impact on social care—and it’s a tough pill to swallow. Key insights: 💸 Funding gap The NHS gains a £22.6bn boost, but social care receives just £600m, far from enough to tackle growing demands. 📈 Cost hikes A 1.2% rise in employer National Insurance and higher wage requirements squeeze already thin margins. 👥 Unpaid carers relief Carers can now earn more while claiming Carer’s Allowance—a step forward, but more support is needed. Sam’s advice for resilience: 1️⃣ Review budgets and contracts 2️⃣ Build local partnerships to share resources 3️⃣ Support staff wellbeing in simple ways 4️⃣ Use tech to improve efficiency 👇 Read more in The Handover
