London Borough of Camden
Government Administration
A truly inclusive organisation that encourages diversity in all respects, including diversity of thinking!
About us
Camden has a proud, rebellious spirit that throughout its history has seen communities come together to tackle problems, and to bring about real social change. Our Camden 2025 community vision sets out a vision for the future of the borough, where everyone contributes to achieving a safe, fair, creative and active community. We want to make Camden a better borough – a place where everyone has a chance to succeed and where nobody gets left behind. Together, we will create a place that works for everyone, and where everybody has a voice. We want our staff to share our level of ambition and hold our values, as our staff will be key to delivering Our Camden Plan. These values mean we will make sure we put citizens at the heart of everything the organisation does and make sure that we focus on addressing the inequalities that can hold people back. We want Camden Council to be a great place to work that champion’s equality, including a commitment to initiatives like the London Living Wage, which help to make our community a fairer place. A vital part of this is ensuring we are a truly inclusive organisation that encourages diversity in all respects, including diversity of thinking. By doing this, we will ensure we continue to represent our communities to the best of our ability and deliver our ambitions for Camden. We will continue our development as an agile council, where flexible working brings benefits for staff and for our work. We prize collaborative approaches and working across traditional boundaries.

Camden is home to over 2,400 voluntary and community groups that play a crucial role in tackling poverty, inequality, and social exclusion. A strong voluntary and community sector is key to a fairer Camden, though the sector has faced challenges from austerity, the pandemic, and the cost-of-living crisis. We support Camden’s VCS with £4 million in grants, along with organisational and partnership development. Recently, we worked with Voluntary Action Camden (VAC), who led research to identify trends, challenges, and best practices in the sector. The report highlights broad issues affecting Camden’s VCS, while recognising the diverse needs of individual organisations. It emphasises the importance of both a strategic and tailored approach to strengthen the sector. We identified several areas of support needed including: ➡️Support to measure and communicate impact and social value ➡️Creation of a multi-agency data repository increasing data access ➡️Support to reimagine volunteering ➡️Collaborative investment in local workforce ➡️Workforce development hubs for training ➡️Access to affordable HR support ➡️Support with strategic, financial and operational planning ➡️A programme to build fundraising skills and capacity ➡️Investment in Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems ➡️Consultation with equity-led organisations on their specific infrastructure support needs ➡️Build capacity of sector to engage with and address environmental and climate change priorities ➡️Programmes to improve use of technology and AI To find out more read the full Read the full State of the Sector Report. https://lnkd.in/eF8xXhGn

📢Look after YOU campaign launches to help young people access health care in Camden Camden Council has launched Look after YOU, a communications campaign coproduced with Camden young people – to help more young people get the free health care they need, when they need it. The campaign includes information on sexual health, mental health, drugs and alcohol, and help to register for a GP. The campaign was developed to reduce health inequalities in Camden, after research showed that young people aren't getting the health care they need early or often enough. Look after YOU was coproduced by Camden Youth: Tell Them, our award winning group of Camden young people aged 16 to 23, who have been taking part in a paid communications and events programme funded by the Council. They have been working for the last six months to develop the campaign – including co-creating and starring in campaign reels and TikToks. They said: 💬 “We know that there are so many services to help under 25s in Camden but that young people don’t always know about them. Young people can also be put off getting health care because they feel embarrassed, are worried about costs or their parents finding out. We hope that Look after YOU not only helps Camden young people to easily find the free healthcare they need, when they need it, but that they feel comfortable and confident using these services.” Look after YOU is live on print and digital channels.
