Very excited to see Baku Climate Action Week that builds on the approach of London and other cities to bring together people and organisations from across society to highlight climate action. Held under the auspices of the COP29 High-Level Champion, Nigar Arpadarai, Baku Climate Action Week will take place from Monday 30 September to Friday 4 October. Working in partnership with London Climate Action Week, now the world’s largest whole of society city-based climate action event, Baku Climate Action Week will feature a range of high-level international conferences alongside multistakeholder local and community events. https://lnkd.in/eeAU8CES

💡 Inspired by London Climate Action Week, the inaugural Baku Climate Action Week will take place from 30 September to 4 October 2024, as an important precursor to #COP29. Through its example, London Climate Action Week has stimulated “sister” events in Auckland and Dublin, and now in Baku. Each has a unique character and focus. Our vision is for all major cities to develop their own bottom-up initiatives rooted in their unique characteristics. The rapid and just transition needed for a climate safe world, will not come from top-down measures alone. https://lnkd.in/eWZwAVQR

Watch back: #ClimatePolitics must be the art of the necessary - E3G's Nick Mabey, founding director and co-CEO, E3G, at the inaugural E3G State of Climate Politics Forum, held on the 25 June 2024 as part of London Climate Action Week #LCAW2024. In his speech, Nick explored why E3G was founded to bridge the gap between #climate #policy and practical #politics; the barriers to change we are experiencing in today’s current political environment, the need for tackling the climate politics gap, why climate politics is different, and how we deliver climate statecraft through the ‘art of the necessary’. https://lnkd.in/ecQRrWUZ Karla Hill, Elizabeth Corse, Lucette Demets, Shane Tomlinson

#CEOs, take note! 📣 A new CEO briefing from World Economic Forum and Oliver Wyman today at #LCAW2024, co-signed by WWF and others, provides core insights and #practical #guidance to empower finance leaders to take action on #nature now. After surveying 35 institutions about nature, key findings include: • 𝟮𝟱% of responding financial institutions are starting to request nature-related data from companies • 𝟰𝟲% of responding financial institutions consider data availability on corporate activities/limited corporate disclosures as the greatest challenge to progressing on nature • 𝟱𝟳% of responding financial institutions expect mitigation of regulatory / environmental risks to generate financing demand in the near term 🔑 The report highlights two priority areas for immediate action: 1. The development of a nature #transitionplanning assessment framework for financial institutions. 2. Collaboration with public finance and industry to create de-risking and financing mechanisms that minimize our impact on nature. WWF and partners are well underway working to bridge these gaps, so stay tuned! #Biodiversity #FinanceForNature #ESG #naturerisks #LCAW2024 Link: https://lnkd.in/eYk75qye

Fantastic blog by Professor Richard Templer. Read to learn howLondon has supported climate innovation and growth over the last 15 years, leading a socio-economic revolution. #LCAW2024 Undaunted: Tackling climate change with innovation
This London Climate Action Week #LCAW2024 the Undaunted team has been reflecting on the palpable excitement around climate innovation, and how invigorating it feels to be connected to the climate innovation community in its different configurations and contexts within London, across the UK, and worldwide. With this in mind we asked our Founder, Professor Richard Templer, for his thoughts on why there's such an inspiring buzz about the place, how London is playing a leading role in the climate innovation space, and why we need to share stories of green founders far and wide to inspire the next generation. It's a conversation we aim to keep having, so watch this space for upcoming reflections from different voices who have things to say about the climate innovation-related contexts in which they work!
