Last week LSEG was proud to participate in New York Climate Week, one of the largest annual climate events of its kind. On Thursday we hosted the annual Sustainable Finance & Investment Summit, where we brought together a select group of thought leaders and leading financial institutions to discuss the latest climate research and major market development in the transition to net zero. The event was opened by LSEG CEO David Schwimmer, followed by discussion on the latest research on portfolio transition from David Russell, Chair, Transition Pathway Initiative (TPI), and Jes Andrews, Head of Climate Accountability, United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI), alongside LSEG’s Jaakko Kooroshy. FTSE Russell’s Head of Sustainable Stephanie Maier led a discussion with Sindhu Krishna, Chief Sustainable Officer for Phoenix Group and Peter Cashion, Managing Investment Director for Sustainable Investments, CalPERS, on the successful implementation of climate risk aware investment strategies across asset classes. Finally, Nili Gilbert, David Rockefeller Fund Committee and Chair of GFANZ provided her perspective and experience as both an investor and industry leader in a fascinating keynote speech and fireside chat with FTSE Russell CEO Fiona Bassett. We are pleased to have contributed to the new Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero (GFANZ) publication, ‘Case Studies on Transition Finance and Decarbonization and Contribution Methodologies’, launched this week during #ClimateWeekNYC. Under this year’s theme for Hispanic Heritage Month “With Latinos, Everything Is Possible”, LSEG’s LEAD Network hosted an inspiring event on September 18 at our New York office. Our Group CIO Irfan Hussain opened an engaging panel of experts discussing Latinos in technology and AI. Using the statement, “Shaping the Future: Latinos Leading in Technology”, the panelists shared their personal journeys, the challenges they’ve overcome, and how they’re seizing opportunities to shape the future. This year’s theme perfectly embodies the resilience, creativity, and innovation that defines the rich Hispanic heritage. It was a powerful reminder of the strength we can all draw from embracing our culture.
