About us
London’s Air Ambulance is the charity that delivers an advanced trauma team to critically injured people in London. We recently joined forces with HEMS operators from the Stiftelsen Norsk Luftambulanse and Wales’ Emergency Medical Retrieval and Transfer Service Cymru (EMRTS Cymru) to share knowledge and advance patient care. Procedures and critical care training around premature babies, victims of stabbing and hearts that have stopped beating were just some of the topics included on the agenda. The experience exchange occurred at the Norwegian Air Ambulance Foundation’s HEMS base in Ål, Norway and saw 14 physicians and critical care practitioners come together, discussing their approaches and relevant training. After 10 years, Associate Director of The Institute of Pre-Hospital Care, Bryony Dunne, is moving on to pastures new. During her time at London's Air Ambulance Charity, Bryony’s contributions have profoundly shaped the Institute’s work. From launching new initiatives – including the Institute’s degree programmes - to mentoring the next generation of pre-hospital care clinicians at the Helipad Training Course, she’s made a lasting impact far beyond London’s Air Ambulance. "Bryony's commitment and passion for advancing education have strengthened our programmes and inspired many within the community. We are deeply thankful for her contributions and wish her all the best in the exciting opportunities ahead." — Dr Tom Hurst, Medical Director, London’s Air Ambulance.

Did you watch Ambulance on BBC last night? Flight Paramedic, David O'Toole, was in London Ambulance Service NHS Trust Emergency Operation Centre that evening and was responsible for dispatching our advanced trauma team to seriously-injured patients. In last night's episode, our team was dispatched to a patient with severe burns. At the roadside, they performed a rapid sequence intubation, a procedure usually found in the hospital's emergency department. Catch up on BBC iPlayer: https://lnkd.in/eVg33cgy

In August 2024, our advanced trauma teams – who are dispatched from The Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel – attended to 189 patients. It is thanks to our supporters that our advanced trauma teams can get to our patients to give them the very best chance of survival. Read how their support helped us to be there 👇
