In July 2020 Jim was involved in a horrific incident. Jim was cycling in Catford as part of his British Triathlon Federation Championship training when a large lorry moved into the lefthand-side lane, pushing him off the road. Our advanced trauma team was dispatched. On arrival, the team was surprised to find Jim conscious, given the gruesome nature of his injuries. He was already being treated by paramedics from London Ambulance Service NHS Trust who had managed to extricate him from under the lorry. Watch as Jim shares his story of recovery - including how just a year after his incident he competed in the British Paratriathlon Championships and came third!

This morning our royal patron, HRH The Prince of Wales, visited our helicopter’s overnight base, RAF Northolt, to see our two new helicopters: G-LAAA and G-LAAB 🚁 During his visit he met with some of our pilots and medical team, discussing the vital role that our helicopters play in delivering life-saving care to London's critically injured. He also spoke with two former patients, Mark and Claire, who reflected on the impact of our service. We were also delighted to be joined by our supporter David Beckham, who gave his backing to our Omaze partnership which raised £4 million. Our royal patron has consistently championed our cause, most notably during our #UpAgainstTime appeal, where he played a pivotal role in helping us secure our two new helicopters. His support has been instrumental in ensuring we can continue to provide exceptional emergency care for those in need. Thank you, HRH Prince of Wales. 📷 Kensington Palace & Nigel Pacquette

That's a wrap for G-LNDN and G-EHMS. Over the last 26 years, our MD902 Explorers have helped us to reach thousands of seriously ill patients across London - getting our advanced trauma team to the scene in under 11 minutes to provide innovative life-saving procedures. For years, these aircraft have been at the forefront of emergency response, flying our advanced trauma team to those in critical need. It's the end of an era, but their legacy will live on in the lives they've helped save across London.

This evening, our Communications team will be at the Charity Times Awards, where they’ve been shortlisted for PR Team of the Year. During our #UpAgainstTime appeal and beyond, our small but mighty PR team has produced outstanding content across various channels, securing remarkable press coverage in outlets from local to international, spanning print, broadcast, and radio. Each piece has been thoughtfully crafted, always supporting the broader goal of raising awareness that we are a charity, with the added impact of driving donations. Their creativity with no budget has been imperative in supporting the wider charity to raise £16 million for their Up Against Time appeal. Please join us in wishing them the best of luck.

Yesterday, Damon Hill hosted one of our gala auction prizes - a drive in a Ferrari 250 GT Passo Corto at Goodwood. Reflecting on the day, our CEO, Jonathan Jenkins said: “A huge thank you to Formula 1 legend Damon Hill for taking our donors for a spin around Goodwood in the Ferrari which was driven by Stirling Moss and Graham Hill at 1961 Le Mans. It couldn’t be more appropriate, with Sir Stirling actually being a key ambassador for the charity in our early days and one of the thousands of patients that London’s Air Ambulance has attended to in our 35-year history. The opportunity came as a result of our long-term supporters Bernardo and Clive kindly donating and organising the auction prize as part of our record-breaking fundraising gala earlier in the year. Their support, along with thousands of others across London, has made all the difference in making our #UpAgainstTime appeal so successful and ensuring our service can continue to be there for those who need us most.”
