Expanding on our video insight into the recent 'Ahead of the Game' event hosted by Sam Peters and Alison Kervin OBE.
Our Co-Founder Nick Greenhalgh recently spoke at the inaugural 'Ahead of the Game' event hosted at St Paul's School. The speakers and guests at the event included the esteemed Sir Clive Woodward, Mike Loosemore, Cath Bishop, Dr Lisa Ryan (RNutr), Sam Smith,Tom Kohler-Cadmore, Bill Ribbans, Neil Rollings, David Bartlett and Professor Willie Stewart.
The evening was a fantastic success featuring three engaging and compelling panels discussing the problems with sport, the purpose of sport and the future of sport.
Nick spoke to the audience on the third panel centred around the 'Future of Sport' which featured key themes such as the welfare of young people in sport, experiences with concussion in today's sporting world and how to make sport a safer space for the future.
Our values at Luca shone through consistently. Not least the absolute need to 'empower' schools and their staff to make smart decisions regarding pupil welfare. This comes in a landscape where raising awareness that there is a concussion problem is not enough.
There is also a clear, shared recognition that the provisions available in the professional game are not shared with grassroots and school sport. Hence, there is a pressing need to develop technologies and services that are accessible right the way through sport from the ground up. At Luca we endeavour to find 'the solution for school sport' which is only fair to the next generation.
In Nick's words:
'What is the technology that's accessible?'
'What tools can we put into the hands of: school masters, headmistresses, the volunteers at local rugby clubs?'
'Let's build tech that people can afford to use.'
At Luca, we are doing all that and more. If you are a Director of Sport, Sport's Coach, Headteacher, School Bursar or anyone else who wants to know more about what we do, then don't hesitate to contact us. ✍
Thanks to Sam for the event and we look forward to being continuously involved in plenty more in the future, shaping the future of concussion management. 🧠
