Across three work streams - Structures & Demolition, Facades and Interiors we discussed how we can collectively unlock circularity and maximise carbon benefits in our industry. A new urban chapter for Cape Town ✨🏙️ Exciting progress is underway as our Consult team in South Africa has been appointed by Rawson Developers to manage the construction of Maritime Place. This 12-storey, mixed-use development will deliver 300 residential units and two levels of retail space with 12 stores. Maritime Place will breathe new life into Paarden Eiland, creating a vibrant community with co-working spaces, a fitness centre, a rooftop pool, and green communal areas. 🔬 🏛️ The Lab is now open! We’re pleased to share that Phase 3 of ARU Peterborough, known as The Lab, is now complete and open for students and faculty, just in time for the new academic term. This state-of-the-art, mass timber building has been designed with sustainability, student experience, and community engagement in mind. The Lab expands the University’s curriculum, offering a variety of labs, including microbiology, tissue culture, engineering workshops, and teaching spaces. It also features the Living Lab, a striking golden-clad exhibition space aimed at inspiring the local community to explore STEM. This marks the third project where Mace Consult team has provided Project Management and Cost Consultancy services for Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Combined Authority, and Peterborough City Council. Low Carbon Cassettes: From concept to application 🌎   Designed for reusability, our Low-Carbon Cassettes, are integrated with a digital model to revolutionise construction. Simplifying airport construction with a kit of parts design ✈ At Manchester Airport we were pleased to have collaborated with WSP Places to adopt a kit-of-parts design for the construction of the Fixed Links and Nodes for the new Pier 2. By using this approach, we rationalised the design from thousands of components down to a small number of larger assemblies. This meant we moved 80% of construction activity into a factory setting, improving productivity as well as health & safety. A 3D model of the design was on display at the Autodesk University Design & Make conference this week in San Diego.
