Next month's social walk! Would you like to join us for November’s social walk? We’ll be meeting at 9am on Saturday 16th November for a great walk taking in Langsett Reservoir and the surrounding area. We'll start by path hugging the water’s edge to Little Don River, which you’ll cross to head across the moorland slopes. Enjoy the stunning views as you ascend the moorland hills, taking in breathtaking vistas of the Little Don Valley below. Descend along the Thickwoods Brook to the reservoir’s edge and come across the ruins of the North America Farm which was used as target practice in the Second World War. Indents of the bullets can still be seen in some of the stones. This is a dog and child-friendly walk so you can bring them along! Make sure you note down the date and book on using the link below: https://lnkd.in/eB94Hkbf We look forward to seeing you there! The ol' stress and recovery paradox 💣 Given the development of technology and fast-paced lifestyles, we often don't take the time to sit back and recover from bouts of high-intensity training, and workload all whilst maintaining some sanity and social life. When it comes to training to perform or working your backside off at work, I always refer to us not being robots - and unfortunately, we cannot work at 110% forever! This means you need some kind of strategy to push hard and then fall back - giving you a long-term strategy to succeed and not burn out/increase your risk of injury or decline in performance. I find working on a 3-week on, 1 week off works best (off doesn't mean doing nothing but managing workload and reducing the volume and frequency of training). This means after the 1 week off I am fired up and ready to go 🚀 Have a go and let me know what you think you can change this week? Read below to find out our take on the difference! A regular massage is typically more general and aims to relax muscles and relieve stress...Whereas a sports massage is a more specialised and focused session used to treat injuries, reduce injury risk, and improve performance. There might be some techniques that we use in sports massage sessions that are similar to a regular massage, but our approach and reasoning are not the same. The general practice with a sports massage is to relieve tension, soreness and restrictions which often require more focused and deeper work. This may mean 1-2 limbs/one body part are worked on…coupled up with specific exercises/stretches to support your treatment and recovery. Want to see how our sports massages can help you? Which rep ranges should I train in?! Today I wanted to share optimal rep ranges when it comes to resistance training to deliver specific outcomes 💪 You see as a sports injury specialist, I see day in day out people taking lifting for the sake of lifting... Mostly because they are a part in team or individual sports such endurance-based sports (I am not slating this as this is hard to get most in the gym!) However, a large pool of my clients (new to the gym or well-established but not in tune with the science behind training) are often training the wrong intensities (weight or load) and volume (reps and sets). This often ends in: 👎🏼 Not reaching the goal they intended (weight loss, muscle gain, strength gains) 👎🏼 Injury rates presecent holding them back from regular training/competing 👎🏼 Overtraining/overreaching My number one mission and passion is to help my clients get out of the clinic and back to full participation - that often includes education being a number one focus from the start! By providing this valuable information, I aim to empower you to take control of your fitness journey and make informed decisions about your workouts 🙌 It's not just about lifting weights; it's about understanding the science behind it and making the most out of every rep💡 So next time you hit the gym, remember to tailor your reps to suit your goals and see the difference it can make in your progress 💪 Let's work smarter, not just harder! 🚀 ***Please note these are not fixed rep ranges and may differ person to person! (although no one ever lifts 7 or 11 reps - that would be a crime!) #madetomovesheffield #madetomove #makingmoves #sheffieldgym #sheffield #sport #exercise #sheffieldfitness #kelhamisland #neepsend #sportsinjuryclinic #support #community #education #resistancetraining #intention #weights #strengthandconditioning #physiotherapy #injuryrisk
