I'm really excited to share my latest contribution to Nursery Management Today, where I dive into Gender-Inclusive Recruitment in Early Years Education! Writing this piece allowed me to reflect on the steps we can take to bring more men into early years settings and, just as importantly, to support those who are already there making a difference. One of the inspiring voices in the article is Jake Balding, an ECE student from Anglia Ruskin University. Jake spoke about how having a supportive male network really helped ease his concerns about entering a field with so few men. It’s reassuring to hear how visible male role models and strong communities can make all the difference for men considering early years careers. Julie Robinson BA HonsPGCE from Eagley school house nursery ltd is also featured as a true leader in this area. Julie has pioneered equal parental leave for her staff, setting a powerful example of how inclusive policies can encourage and support male educators. Her approach sends a clear message: early years can be a welcoming, balanced environment for everyone. The article is a call to action for us all.
