We've launched a new campaign to change the conversation around later life, moving away from outdated portrayals of retirement and encouraging proactive financial planning. Too often, people invest "too little, too late”, and we want to help shift that mindset. While affordability and lack of knowledge hinder people from engaging with financial planning, current depictions of retirement are creating another barrier because we are not positively talking up the possibilities that later life offers. Our research found that over half (58%) of those not retired in the UK believe the way retirement is written, talked about or portrayed is uninspiring and does not reflect the life they want to lead. That’s why we’re focusing on a more aspirational, positive, and realistic representation of later life – one that inspires people to plan ahead, feel comfortable discussing finances, and have the confidence to seek advice.   To bring that to life, we have commissioned a vibrant photography series showcasing the rich variety of later life experiences today. This is complemented by our Agenda for Change, which includes a set of recommendations that draw on our research findings - with the aim to inspire individuals, government and industry to make meaningful change. 🎥 Watch our behind-the-scenes film below and meet the stars of our photography series. 🔗 Find out more about how we're reframing later life here: https://lnkd.in/e7KUFEca #ReframingLaterLife #ChangeTheConversation

  • It has been another highly productive week at M&G, marked by the achievement of two significant growth milestones, underscoring our commitment to placing customers and clients at the forefront of our activities.   In Life, we are pleased to announce to financial advisers that M&G has re-entered the annuity market by soft launching the Prudential Guaranteed Income Plan. This new UK insurance product is powered by our substantial £129 billion With-Profits fund and represents an expansion of our suite of blended retirement solutions tailored for advisers and clients.   For further details, please refer to the full press release: https://lnkd.in/emfn3rcu   In Asset Management, we announced the launch of our first Long-Term Asset Fund (LTAF). This will enable us to provide access to our diversified private credit strategy to UK Defined Contribution (DC) pension schemes for the first time. This milestone is a significant step towards our ambition to grow our £73 billion market-leading private markets business by broadening access to strategies that have the potential to enhance long-term returns and improve investment outcomes.   For further information, please refer to the full press release: https://lnkd.in/eDKrHVBr Anusha Mittal | Emmanuel Deblanc

Yesterday, I joined Rt Hon Rachel Reeves at HM Treasury for a timely roundtable on tackling systemic barriers faced by female entrepreneurs in the UK. M&G plc is committed to driving change by allocating patient capital from our With Profits Fund to support female founders and the investors who back them. Through our contribution to the Women Backing Women Fund (WBWF), we are actively working to close the gender funding gap and build a more inclusive investment ecosystem. Investing in women isn’t just about fairness – it’s an economic imperative for UK growth and requires collective industry efforts. Addressing gender bias in capital allocation requires intentional investment to create lasting change. • To celebrate International Women’s Day this weekend and its theme of Accelerate Action, we caught up with Sandra Collinson, a real trailblazer in our Asset Management Investment Risk and Performance team, who recently marked an incredible 45 years at M&G!   Sandra’s journey began in November 1979, when she joined as the only female junior clerk in the Price Making department – the youngest employee at M&G at the time. With no prior experience in investment management, but a passion for number crunching and an eagerness to learn, she quickly made her mark.   As her career accelerated, so did technology. Sandra was one of the first employees at M&G to trial a ‘personal computer’ – a bold leap forward from years of manual calculations with a trusty calculator. Never one to shy away from a challenge, she self-taught herself spreadsheets, transforming the way performance was tracked.   So, what’s kept Sandra at M&G for 45 years? She credits the culture and the people, proving that the right environment empowers growth and longevity. She’s a perfect example of the resilience, adaptability, and determination that International Women’s Day celebrates.   Sandra’s journey with M&G is a reminder that embracing change (and a bit of tech…) can take you further than you ever imagined.   #IWD2025 #AccelerateAction #MandGStars M&G Investments

  • Our new campaign challenges outdated portrayals of retirement and encourages people to financially plan for their future – helping to prevent a generation of savers from investing ‘too little, too late’.    To change the conversation and visually reframe how we think about later life, we have commissioned a vibrant photography series, reflecting the rich variety of how individuals enjoy later life today, all free to use by media and other interested parties. Alongside this, we’re launching our Agenda for Change, a set of recommendations that draw on M&G’s research findings, with the aim to inspire individuals, government and industry to make meaningful change.   In partnership with Westminster think-tank, the Social Market Foundation, we’re also conducting a deeper investigation into how people view later life, exploring ways to encourage earlier engagement with retirement planning.     Anusha Mittal, Managing Director of Individual Life and Pensions at M&G, said: “The way later life is currently being portrayed is not realistic, aspirational or reflective of how people are now living. Our research shows the reality of later life is radically different today than it was in previous decades, and how people are enjoying their later years is currently misrepresented. If we don’t begin to positively reframe this chapter of life, the risk is that more people will continue to avoid planning for retirement and the ‘too little, too late’ generation will continue to grow. We need to break the cycle, have a cultural reset, change the conversation and inspire people to plan for the future.     “We also need to give people greater financial confidence to put their money to work. This involves setting a clear roadmap on the future of auto-enrolment, providing greater education on the principles of pensions and savings and making advice more accessible. By putting concrete actions in place, combined with more positive representations of later life, the industry can better support people to take action to meet their financial goals.”    🔗To read the full press release please visit: https://lnkd.in/edkYzdPJ   📷To view our gallery of photography and access our Agenda for Change visit: https://lnkd.in/eak9JDBM #ReframingLaterLife #ChangeTheConversation
