👣 Over 200 (purple) people were out in force last Saturday for The #PurpleNightWalk, walking 6km in the dark to raise oodles of money - over £30,000!!! - for the Winchester Hospice 👣 💕 Our local Winchester Hospice offers a much-needed service locally, relying hugely on public and private generosity to help care for people living with a life-limiting illness. It is the charity which all of us here at Market Measures are supporting through their #Venture100 business fundraising programme 💕 🎖 The Mayor of Winchester Cllr Russell Gordon-Smith opened proceedings, with pre and post-entertainment and jollity provided by the Winchester Ukelele Jam, Juggling Jake and local choir, Winchester Sings. Educational. Tasty. Sociable. What a lovely day was had at the Casual Dining Show – now The National Restaurant Pub & Bar Show. last week. My day kicked off with Justin Carter's keynote discussing the growth journey of hugely successful casual dining group Loungers plc (owner of The Lounges, Cosy Club and Brightside brands) and finished with a superb talk on 'GEN Z and Changing Pub Visits' by Peter Martin. Time in-between these brain-expanding moments was spent visiting our clients - and their competitors (!) - and exploring an enormous number of exciting new food & drink trends and products 😃😃 Two of the biggest vibes I personally picked up from the show - at least in terms of number of exhibitors and nature of products on display - were these 👇👇 🔵 #CasualDining is BACK!! Finally, post-Covid, winners as well as losers are really starting to appear. Whilst a big chunk of the numbers represents historic catch-up and correction, it still felt like the first good-news in a while for this long-beleaguered sector. 🔵 Innovation within '#functional' food and drink categories has continued to grow quickly. As far as number of exhibitors went, I felt there'd been a distinct shift away from CBD - which appears at first glance to have been filled with other functional products -> in particular functional #mushrooms such as #LionsMane, #Reishi and #Cordyceps. 🍄🍄 👁️👁️ Oh - and the sheer visual impact and quality of product branding, graphic design and packaging was a JOY to behold and, having worked in creative agencies for far too many years, was a real treat for me personally. Hence some of the pics below, my personal favourites being the illustrations from The Artisan Drinks Co and the Wild Thingz gummy sweet brand, started by Fliss Newland, ex-Mondelez. Lovely stuff. 🌴🥥 #Favourite product of the day was my lunchtime treat of The Coconut Collab's natural yoghurt alternative. I've been a nat-yog lover (is that a thing?) for yonks, but this was in a completely different league. Yours truly is very much looking forward to dolloping that onto my daily oats/nuts/bloobs breakfast combo. 🍪🍪🍪 Final shout out to JNCK Bakery for my freshly baked cookie - low sugar, high fibre, high protein.... who knew you could even do that? The Coconut Collab ~ Belvoir Farm ~ Loungers plc ~ PIZZA EXPRESS ~ Mockingbird Raw Press ~ The Artisan Drinks Co ~ Bill's Restaurants ~ Wild Thingz ~ JNCK Bakery and many many more.
