** We’re Recruiting ** Full time Clerk of Works Role Due to the success of our service, Markhams seeking another permanent Clerk of Works. As an established Quantity Surveying and Cost Consultancy practice, primarily acting as Employer’s Agent on new build housing projects for Registered Social Landlords, we are seeking a Clerk of Works to join our Team and provide a Quality Assurance/Quality Assessment role on various residential developments. Projects will be primarily based in North West England. The ideal candidate for this role will:- - Be computer literate - Have experience using a range of Microsoft Programs (Excel, Word etc.) - Be able to produce electronic weekly reports - Have a full UK Driving License and a car - Have excellent communication skills - Be able to develop relationships with other Project Team members - Be experienced in the construction industry - Have advanced knowledge and experience of Construction Methods, Technologies, Regulations and Contracts (JCT) - Have significant experience providing Clerk of Works services on new build developments (preferably for Housing Association clients) - Be a member of The Institute of Clerks of Works and Construction Inspectorate (ICWCI), Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), or equivalent If you’re interested in this role, please contact/send your CV to: enquiries@markhams.org.uk hashtag#construction hashtag#growth hashtag#recruiting hashtag#team hashtag#quality hashtag#clerkofworks

🏡 Welsh Streets Transformation We’re excited to share that the final phase of the Welsh Streets project in Liverpool has been successfully completed, adding 13 new homes and bringing the total number of houses in this revitalised neighbourhood to 296. The Welsh Streets is a project we’ve been proud to be part of since 2016, acting as the employer’s agent on behalf of Placefirst. This collaborative effort, involving Placefirst, Liverpool City Council, MBED ARCHITECTS LTD, Curtins, and Urbanise Construction, not only delivered modern homes with an EPC rating of C+ and solar panels but also brought essential community spaces and green areas. To stand still is to move backwards! QSs are already highly valuable subject matter experts in the construction industry, but they have the potential to further enhance their skills with the advent of AI. Their expertise in cost management, contract oversight and procurement is crucial, and AI can act as a supportive tool to augment their capabilities. Upskilling in leadership and project management will empower them to lead project teams, drive innovation and ensure successful project delivery. With AI as a strategic enabler, QSs can focus on decision-making, collaboration and shaping sustainable built environments, solidifying their position as highly skilled professionals in the industry. Lastly, developing leadership and project management skills enables QSs to take on more senior roles and lead teams effectively. Continuous learning and staying updated with industry trends and best practices are essential for QSs to thrive in their profession.   AI will not ‘take over’ or remove the role of the QS; instead, the role will transform and evolve. But it will be important for QSs to upskill and to keep up to date with both technological and sector trends.
