We had a fabulous evening last Thursday when we were joined by Heidi Hudson, curator at the Royal Kennel Club for the first event in our Mary Evans Salon. Heidi gave a fascinating talk on the history of dog photography and how it grew in parallel with the development of dog ownership, pedigree standards and dog shows. The talk was particularly apt as our founder Mary loved dogs and collecting dog imagery, even acquiring the archive of pioneering Victorian dog photographer Thomas Fall in 2001. We had a really lovely group of people, who enjoyed Heidi's lecture, meeting her Portuguese Water Spaniel, Bob, and enjoying the surroundings of our unique building, all with a glass of wine in hand. Keep following us on social media, or register on our site to be kept up to date with further events at the library.
