Innovative demonstrator project, Clearfell House is an experimental timber structure that facilitates community engagement with British woodland. Developed as part of Central Saint Martins, University of The Arts London’s ‘Regenerative Construction’ unit on the M-Arch Architecture Course, a group of 33 students investigated the production and application of bio-based materials, forming Clearfell House. This project was led by research and design practice, Material Cultures - who focus on the bio-regionality of materials and low embodied carbon construction. It was a full-house at our Manchester Studio last night for our first Seminar of 2025, which asked: How will materiality help us hit Net Zero? A huge thank you to everyone who joined us.
