It's inspiring to hear about the upcoming videos from Mates in Mind and fischer group over the next month Highlighting the real struggles that construction workers face regarding their mental health on a day to day basis is crucial for breaking down stigma. Normalizing these conversations not only helps men feel less isolated but also starts the process of a supportive community where everyone can share their feelings. It's heartwarming to see construction workers openly discussing their mental health, and such initiatives can truly make a difference in creating a culture of prevention and openness. it’s makes me well up to see efforts aimed at making mental health a priority in the construction industry. #constructionmentalhealth
This year, International Stress Awareness Week is Monday 4 to Friday 8 November, and National Stress Awareness Day is Wednesday 6 November 2024. The theme is ‘Campaigning to Reduce Stress and Improve Wellbeing’, which is something we wholeheartedly agree with, campaign for, and provide resources, training and blogs to support. These materials can be used during these awareness dates as well as throughout the year. During this important awareness campaign, we are encouraging our Supporters, partners and followers to normalise talking about stress and mental health. Talking about them will help to address the stigma, and therefore give people the confidence and reassurance that it is okay to start a conversation about stress and mental health. It is also important to take time to identify the root cause(s), address them and put measures in place to mitigate them in order to prevent them reoccurring. Watch the short clip below to find out why it’s important to reach out for support when you need it. This is part of a series of the Time to Talk about mental health in construction videos, created in partnership with fischer UK, which we will be sharing across the month. You can watch the full version, in which Tom is open and honest about his experiences with mental health and how to spot the signs, here: https://lnkd.in/eZshUpwE Find out more about Stress Awareness Day/Week and download a free poster: https://bit.ly/ISAW24sm #StressAwarenessWeek #StressAwarenessDay #mentalhealth #mentalwellbeing

Thank you so much fischer UK for inviting us to partner with you to create these impactful interviews. They are inspiring to watch and, as you say, will help to normalise talking about mental health, to demonstrate that there are people who will listen, and to encourage those watching to reach out for support if they need it. Thank you.
Time To Talk – fischer X Mates In Mind This November we’re excited to launch a special interview series focused on mental health in the trade and construction industry, recognizing the importance of mental health awareness not just this month, but every month. While November is highlighted as men’s mental health awareness month, mental health challenges affect people all year-round. Men experience disproportionately high-rates of suicide, with death by suicide being the biggest killer of men under the age of 50 in the UK. We’re proud to bring conversations that matter. Hosted by Recheal Valderama from Mates in Mind, this series will present five impactful, one-on-one conversations with individuals across the trade and construction industry. Each guest brings a unique perspective, sharing personal stories that shed light on the realities of mental health challenges in their roles. From navigating high-stress environments to managing work-life balance, these conversations are about breaking down the stigma around mental health and making it okay to ask for help. By sharing their journeys, we hope to reach those who may feel alone in their struggles and show that support is available—and that no one has to face it alone. Keep a look out on our YouTube Channel for each episode. https://lnkd.in/e-Vn5Y-p #TimeToTalk #fischerfixings #MatesInMind #MentalHealthAwareness #ItsOkayNotToBeOkay #SupportMatters

Today, 1 November, marks the start of Men’s Health Month which is designed to raise awareness of three key health issues, including mental health and suicide prevention. The aim of the month is to encourage men to start conversations about their health, and to seek support if they need it. This is at the heart of what we advocate for, and it is why we work collaboratively with organisations of any size to embed a proactive, prevention strategy which empowers them to create a supportive workplace culture which creates positive mental health in and through work. As part of our Men’s Health Month activities each week we will post a Time To Talk film, created in partnership with fischer UK – please look out for, watch and share them. Employers have a duty of care to ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of their employees, including mental health/stress. However, if you manage one of the 5.47mn SMEs in the UK, you will know how hard it can be to access the same resources as larger organisations. Therefore, at Mates in Mind, we have launched our new Champions Programme and are calling on medium and large sized organisations to support the small organisations and sole traders within their supply chains. Supporting supply chains to become mentally resilient is important as it benefits the employees, their employer, and the wider local community.
