As the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is in force, it is advisable that you undertake an audit of your data estate to ensure your compliance with it. There are a number of reasons why organisations conduct data protection audits, whether it is to better understand the information your organisation holds, to refresh and roll out new policies, or to meet the demands of the increasingly strict legislation in the most effective way possible. Robert Bond presents this live and interactive broadcast which will provide you with a step-by-step guide to conducting these audits. It will cover who should take part in an audit, effective stakeholder management and more. This autumn, we turn our attention to the release of the ICAEW AML Annual Supervision Report for 2023-24. This report is always full of useful information that we can take away to improve our practice. It also gives us all the facts, figures and findings from the visits and audits that the ICAEW has undertaken in the past year. Taking the top 10 areas of concern from last year’s report, what improvements have been made? Are there areas which still need improving? Are there new areas of concern? Are there parts of your practice that need updating or refreshing in relation to the findings? Are you prepared for a visit should you get one? This virtual classroom seminar with Joanna Morris will help you to identify areas of concern that you can improve on should you be visited by the ICAEW. The session is suitable for MLROs, MLCPs, deputy MLROs, compliance team members and anyone else in your firm seeking to improve their knowledge in AML. Recent delegate feedback for Joanna Morris includes: ✨"Joanna made me feel very comfortable throughout the day. No question was a silly question. Very informative" ✨"Jo was very knowledgeable and went into depth and gave examples to ensure we understood everything" ✨"Jo is absolutely brilliant. She really explains everything very well and is very friendly." For more information, or to book your place, please see the link below: https://lnkd.in/g5S5uCtp #MBLSeminars #OnlineLearning #ICAEW

Utility companies - electricity, gas, telecoms, water and drainage - have at their disposal a wide range of statutory powers to take rights in land, as well as outright powers of compulsory purchase. Clients may therefore encounter the work of the utilities sector in many ways - new rights of access may be demanded; equally existing installations may be a problem for the future use and redevelopment of land. This live and interactive session will review these issues for lawyers, surveyors, planners and developers, aiming to provide practical guidance which can be deployed with confidence. Presented by Charles Cowap, a highly experienced surveyor and lecturer, the session will explore the main sources of statutory power, procedural and valuation aspects and compensation. Removal of statutory installations will also be discussed along with dispute resolution and procedures. Presented by leading barrister Eleanor Mawrey of Deka Chambers, this virtual classroom seminar will explore the UK’s anti-bribery and corruption legislation and will offer a comprehensive overview of the criminal offences under the Bribery Act 2010. Using interactive scenarios and real-world examples, Eleanor will address more complex areas of the law, such as the definitions of ‘associated persons’ and ‘adequate procedures’. In addition to advice on how to review and update your anti-bribery and corruption practices, Eleanor will offer tips on best practice to avoid and prevent the commission of offences and how to spot ‘red flag’ transactions, as well as how best to assess the giving of corporate gifts and hospitality. Continuing in my quest for extremely riveting posts.....Companies House published an outline transition plan on 16th Oct for the implementation of the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act. Interestingly, the dates for identity verification have moved slightly. It is anticipated now that by Spring 2025, they will introduce the first step by allowing professional service providers such as solicitors and accountants to register to become Authorised Corporate Service Providers. Identify verification for new companies is now expected to commence by Autumn 2025. I am delivering regular updates on the proposed changes for MBL Seminars Ltd and my next course with availability is 21 Nov.
