Back at InsureTech Connect Las Vegas, MIS CPO Rosina S. joined Nicole Efthymiou from Insurance Knowledge Hub to discuss how geospatial intelligence is evolving alongside the insurance industry's needs. Rosina highlights how this technology can support insurers in making early claims payments following catastrophic events and using the knowledge gained from their response to possess a better understanding of risk. She also emphasises that it's important for technology providers to establish what works but to also be aware of the limits of their technology, so we continue to rely on humans where they're best-suited to the task. Looking ahead, Rosina hinted at future opportunities to enhance insurer capabilities being driven by geospatial intelligence, ensuring that this technology encompasses every aspect of the insurance lifecycle. Finally, she ends the interview by sharing why we love visiting ITC Vegas every year! Make sure to catch Rosina's full interview here: https://lnkd.in/dgYpMQbu Simon Hayes Roma Braithwaite

The MIS team are currently undertaking assessments of the damaging tornadoes that struck Oklahoma on Sunday November 3rd. Following severe storms across the state, several tornadoes spawned as a result, mainly focused on the Oklahoma City area, which caused damage to buildings, left tens of thousands without power and injured 11 people. To help clients understand the initial impact of these tornadoes on their business in Oklahoma, the team have released a dedicated report on GEO. This contains an initial Exposure Layer, highlighting areas that have potentially been affected, as well as the probable extent of any damage. The report also includes Confirmed Tornado Tracks, showing details of the path of the tornadoes, their EF scale, wind speeds and how many miles they travelled. Head to GEO to quickly establish where in-force locations may have been damaged. If you do not have GEO access but would like to unlock the MIS coverage of this event, contact the team today: https://lnkd.in/dQNSXfzG

After further data collection activities over the weekend, the MIS response to the tragic flooding in southeast Spain continues. Significant rescue and recovery efforts remain underway across the region, where sadly at least 217 people have died as a result of this extreme weather event. To further help clients get ahead of incoming claims around their relevant insured locations, the team have made more updates to the GEO report. There are additions to the Flood Claims Layer, pinpointing more areas where flooding is present and the likely extent, as well as updates to the Flood Exposure Layer, which highlights additional locations in the Valencia region that have potentially been flooded. Access the GEO report to find out where your business may have been impacted by this devastating flooding. If you do not have GEO but are interested in seeing where in-force properties, policies and portfolios have been affected by this event, make sure to reach out to the MIS team today: https://lnkd.in/dYNgx_m3

MIS assessments of the major flooding in southeast Spain continue. Sadly, this tragic event has now claimed the lives of over 200 people, with an additional 1,000 soldiers brought in by the Spanish Government to assist with the ongoing rescue efforts. To help clients establish where their in-force properties, policies and portfolios have been impacted by this event, the team have added a Flood Claims Layer to the GEO report. This covers affected areas in the Valencia region where flooding has been confirmed and the probable extent. There are also updates to the Flood Exposure Layer, which highlights more locations across the region that have potentially been flooded. Login to GEO and get ahead of incoming claims for this devastating flooding event. If you're without GEO but want to understand how your business in southeast Spain may have been impacted, contact the team: https://lnkd.in/g9qQeeUt

Our thoughts go out to those affected by the devastating flooding in Spain as the MIS team make assessments of this event. Tragically, over 150 people have died as a result of the significant flooding caused by over a year's worth of rainfall coming down around southeast Spain. To provide clients with an initial understanding of where their in-force locations are at risk of damage from flooding, the team have released an initial report and Flood Exposure Layer on GEO. This exposure layer highlights areas across southeast Spain that have potentially been flooded. Head to GEO now to establish where your business could likely be affected by this major event. If you do not have GEO access but would like to unlock our coverage of this event, make sure to get in touch today: https://lnkd.in/eWfAz8i8

As we reach the end of another month, we thought we'd reflect on what has been a busy last four weeks for the MIS team. Whilst behind the scenes the team have been incredibly busy informing insurers' responses to both Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton through GEO, we've also been out and about at several industry events both in London and the US. September ended with a trip to the Insurance Council of Texas 2024 State Insurance Trade Association for James Doe and David Heathcote. October then started with The Insurance Network London Market Claims, which was attended by Forbes McKenzie, Oliver Bradburne and Dominique Morizet, as well as James Doe. We also sponsored a session at the event, entitled 'Optimising claims processes through data & analytics', led by Enrico Alessandri from Swiss Re. Then the middle of the month saw Rosina S. and Matthew Patience head to the Mandalay Bay for InsureTech Connect Vegas, marking the final event of a packed few weeks! Before we head into November, there's just a final message we'd like to share that we can only say today: Happy Halloween! 🎃

After over three weeks of assessing the impact of Hurricane Milton, the MIS team have marked the event report on GEO as complete for the time being. To further support clients with MIS intelligence around this major event, the team have made some final additions to the GEO report. This last update includes brand new 15cm Aerial Imagery from our partners Fugro, plus some 50cm imagery from Airbus. There are also updates to the Wind Exposure and Claims Layers, which cover the team's final assessments of areas affected by Milton. Head to GEO now to access the full event report and understand where your business has impacted: https://lnkd.in/d5y7CMmG If you do not have GEO but would like to pair our comprehensive coverage of this event with your in-force locations in Florida, contact the team today: https://lnkd.in/dKzzTRPn For a complete breakdown of the MIS response to Hurricane Milton, check out our dedicated Event Response page here: https://lnkd.in/d2-bJSyR

With 51,017 new tech businesses registered in the UK last year, Britain has emerged as a leader of innovation in Europe. In fact, government data from 2021-2022 positions our country as the second-leading nation for startups, preceded only by the US and potentially, by China 🚀 Behind these figures lies enormous economic potential – something the former government recognised when committing to making us a global tech leader by 2030. And, with critical systems like the NHS central to the current Labour government’s plans relying on such economic growth and technological innovation, it’s vital that these promises are maintained and backed – not only by promises but also by tangible funding and support... 👇 Read more from Forbes McKenzie, founder, and CEO of McKenzie Intelligence Services below 👇 #StartupsMagazine #Startups #Entrepreneur #Budget

To give clients the most up-to-date actionable insights around where their business has been impacted on a property, policy and portfolio-level, the team have added more intelligence based on observed data to the GEO report. This further expands the Flood Exposure Layer and the Wind Claims Layer, covering more locations across Florida which are likely to have been affected.
