Our team had a great time attending the Women In Natural Stone event this week to celebrate International Women's Day. These events provide an excellent opportunity for women to share their experiences in the industry, connect, and network with one another. There was plenty of engaging discussion, and we found Laura Green’s talk particularly insightful. Recently, we’ve been out and about at schools, introducing pupils to the potential careers available in stonemasonry. We visited Churchdown School for a breakfast talk, where Year 10 pupils learned about Meister. Afterwards, some reached out to arrange work experience with us later in the year. Next, we headed to The High School Leckhampton for their mini careers fair. Many of the pupils came to ask us questions about the industry, and even those unfamiliar with stonemasonry told us they would now consider it as a career. Last but certainly not least, we visited Denmark Road High School for their careers assembly, where we gave a presentation on the various opportunities within the stonemasonry industry. The pupils were engaged, eager to learn more, and provided excellent feedback, including appreciation for our focus on sustainability. We’re taking a look back at Hope House project. An impressive example of how both modern and tradition can be fused together, this project included the restoration of an existing grade II listed building, as well as the major redevelopment of a former school site into 54 new high end luxury apartments and houses with associated landscaping. Although it provided several challenges along the way, not least the aggressive installation programme and site logistics, working closely with the site team helped us to ensure an incredible development was delivered. A warm welcome to Ritesh, who joins Meister as our Assistant Surveyor! 👏 With an impressive academic background, Ritesh holds a BE in Civil Engineering, an MBA in Construction and Project Management, and an MSc in Building Information Modelling and Management from Oxford Brookes University. Before moving to the UK, Ritesh played cricket at a national level for the Mumbai Cricket Association and later for the University of Oxford. 🏏 He’s also a passionate football fan (supporting Manchester United!) and enjoys catching up on films in his spare time.
