Under the new price cap, the strain intensifies for the 1.5 million people with a learning disability in the UK, who often face higher energy demands due to their specific needs. Jackie O'Sullivan, Executive Director of Strategy at Mencap, said: “Disabled people's household budgets have been stretched to the limit by three years of especially high bills and the increased energy needs many people with a learning disability have such as powering essential mobility equipment.” 👉 We urge the government to consider expanding the Warm Home Discount to provide vital targeted support to disabled households this winter. 📢 Read our full statement https://brnw.ch/21wM22c

We’re excited to launch the Mencap Data Academy in partnership with Multiverse! Starting in September, we're training over 50 staff to transform how Mencap uses data to improve the lives of people with a learning disability. Jackie O'Sullivan, Executive Director of Strategy at Mencap, says: 💬 “This new Data Academy will harness Multiverse’s expertise in critical areas such as AI and data literacy and develop our team’s skills. This will not only improve our business practices and help drive efficiency at scale, but it also represents a strategic investment in the skills of our colleagues.” A big thank you to the Multiverse team for making this possible! 🙌

The more entries, the more money Mencap receives. So please enter and share news of our partnership!

People with a learning disability tell us that they are struggling to afford their essentials. Through our partnership with the British Gas Energy Trust, Supporting Communities at Risk Programme, we have been able to respond to the increasingly complex Money and Energy advice enquiries that people with a learning disability, and their families are contacting us about, often at crisis point.
