🫖Pop the kettle on and let us help you update your clients on Autumn Budget! Key announcements include: 📣 Inheritance Tax – pension pots to be included in a person’s estate for IHT from April 2027. Agricultural Property Relief and Business Property Relief reduced for combined assets in excess of £1 million 📣 Capital Gains Tax – increase in non-residential rates to align with residential property rates from 30 October 2024. Gradual increase in CGT for assets qualifying for Business Asset Disposal Relief and Investors’ Relief 📣 Employers’ National Insurance contributions – increased to 15% from April 2025 on earnings in excess of £5,000 (per annum). Increase in the employment allowance to £10,500. 📣 Non-dom status – Creating a simpler residence-based regime from April 2025 📣 Income tax - No increases to the basic or higher rates. No extension to the current freeze to income tax thresholds which applies until April 2028. 📣 National living wage - increased by 6.7% to £12.21 for people over 21 years 📣 VAT on private schools - From 1 January 2025, VAT will apply to all education, training and boarding services provided by private schools. 📣 SDLT - The higher rates of Stamp Duty Land Tax for purchases of additional dwellings will be increased from 3% to 5% from 31 October 2024. 📣 Retail, hospitality & leisure (RHL) properties – 40% relief on business rates for 2025/26 📣 Fuel duty – the freeze and temporary 5p cut will be extended for one year.
