Last week Karen Nell and Mark Hewitt had the privilege of attending the Employer Recognition Scheme Gold Awards Ceremony held in the Long Room at the Honourable Artillery Company, in the City of London. We were beyond delighted to be awarded the ERS Gold Award for our ongoing commitment and dedication to supporting those in the Armed Forces. Within the Methods Group we currently have 30 ex Armed Forces people, 16 of whom joined us through our GRAVITATE scheme. Our Met Vets community of Interest launched last year designed to support, connect, and empower our Armed Forces community, including veterans, reservists and their families, and we will continue to support them over the coming years. "These awards are a testament to an organisation’s dedication to hiring, training, and championing service members and veterans. Achieving the Gold Award is a significant milestone, symbolising an organisation’s exceptional support and advocacy for the Armed Forces community and veterans’ employment." Thursday, 31st October, Ministry of Defence Employer Recognition Scheme Gold Awards 2024 took place in the Long Room at the Honourable Artillery Company, City of London honouring 24 London-based organisations. Sir Kenneth Olisa OBE, the Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London attended the event as the keynote speaker and awarded the organisations along with representation from the tri-service: AVM Ranald Munro CB CBE TD VR DL (Commandant General of the RAuxAF and Chair of Greater London RFCA), Captain Paul Hill RD RNR (Assistant Head Reserves, UK Strategic Command and Chair of City RFCA) and Lieutenant Colonel Darren Johnston (SO1 Engagement at the London District HQ). The 2024 Gold ERS Awards showcased the commitment of 24 organisations to supporting the Armed Forces community. Achieving the Gold Award is a significant milestone, symbolising an organisation’s exceptional support and advocacy for the Armed Forces community and veterans’ employment. To be awarded a gold recognition from the Ministry of Defence, organisations must provide 10 extra paid days leave for Reservists, and have supportive HR policies in place for Reservists, veterans, Cadet Force Adult Volunteers and the spouses and partners of those serving in the Armed Forces. During the awards ceremony, each organisation was thoughtfully paired with a song that reflected their business function, adding a creative and fun element to the event. Happy Halloween 🎃 from your friendly and undeniably wacky consultants and BAs at Methods! We’re a crazy bunch here, but the love and camaraderie is undeniable. Huge thank you to my colleagues who braved various trains and startled starring commuters to make the perilous journey into the office all glammed-up, and a big thank you to our clients who have laughed mercilessly at our attempts to look cool, (fair!) I confess there is nothing quite like watching a cyberman walk towards you along the platform! It’s equally delightful to have Cruella run us through a process map- see, it’s both work AND play here! Thanks again, Guy Thompson, Amelia C., Laurence Wells, Stuart Ecuyer, Suzanne Maxted, Gerard Graham (the invisible man whom I was assured was in attendance)!

As #CyberSecurityAwarenessMonth concludes, it's crucial to remember that digital security requires year-round vigilance. Today, we're focusing on a significant yet often overlooked threat: cookie hijacking, a sophisticated cyber attack that can have far-reaching consequences for both individuals and organisations. 🍪 What is cookie hijacking? Cookie hijacking, also known as session hijacking, occurs when cyber criminals intercept or steal your browser cookies - small pieces of data that websites store to remember your preferences and login status. While cookies are essential for a smooth browsing experience, they can become powerful tools in the wrong hands. ✳️Understanding the risks The implications of cookie hijacking can be severe and multifaceted: 📍Unauthorised account access: Attackers can gain entry to your online accounts without needing your password, potentially accessing sensitive personal or professional information 📍 Identity theft: Stolen cookies can provide criminals with enough information to impersonate you online, leading to fraudulent activities in your name 📍 Financial exposure: Compromised cookies from banking or e-commerce sites can lead to unauthorised transactions and significant financial losses 📍 Privacy breaches: Your browsing history, preferences, and personal information stored in cookies can be exposed, compromising your digital privacy 📍 Business impact: For organisations, a single cookie hijacking incident can lead to data breaches, regulatory non-compliance, and reputational damage. 👥 Methods' comprehensive security solution At Methods, we understand that modern cyber threats require modern solutions. Our comprehensive security framework combines multiple layers of protection: ✔️ Advanced threat detection and response ✔️ Cloud security architecture design ✔️ Regulatory compliance expertise ✔️ Continuous security monitoring ✔️ Incident response planning and execution. 🛡️Protecting your digital assets Whether you're a small business taking your first steps toward robust cyber security or a large enterprise looking to enhance your existing security posture, Methods has the expertise to protect your digital assets. Our team of security professionals stays ahead of emerging threats, ensuring your organisation remains protected in an ever-evolving digital landscape. Take action today! Don't wait for a security incident to improve your cyber security stance. Contact Methods to learn how our tailored security solutions can protect your organisation from cookie hijacking and other cyber threats. Remember: Cyber security is not a one-time effort but a continuous journey of adaptation and improvement.
