  • The UK’s largest outdoor spatial audio festival, Polygon Live LDN, has just released its full line-up, cementing its position as one of the hottest festivals of 2025 - and Metro are excited to be named the festival’s official media partner too! Taking place in Crystal Palace Park from 2 to 4 May 2025. The unique experience will feature artists performing in full 360° spatial audio across two hemispherical domes. Our Editor-in-Chief, Deborah Arthurs, said on the partnership: “Metro is thrilled to be the official media partner for Polygon Live. Our shared commitment to innovation and community engagement makes this partnership a perfect fit. Together, we aim to bring the latest in inspiring technology and entertainment to our audience. This is a great opportunity for any brand looking to reach a powerful audience of truly engaged music and tech lovers.”

In an opinion piece for Metro.co.uk, Member of Parliament for Islington North Jeremy Corbyn called for an end to all arms sales to Israel, along with his colleagues in the Independence Alliance. I produced the social content for the article for Metro's Instagram account, condensing his piece to appeal to the platform's audience - which reached over 500,000 people within the first 12 hours of being posted, and has now reached a million users. This piece worked on Instagram as it was packaged in a user-friendly way, using images and short bursts of texts to engage the audience - as well as being a politically relevant piece that resonated with readers. #SocialMedia #SocialMediaManagement #Journalism #Politics #JeremyCorbyn

  • This week, Anna Staddon from our Social Video team produced this brilliant piece of original video content. Covering the news that Colossal Biosciences had created Woolly Mice in their endeavour to bring back the Woolly Mammoth from extinction - it featured an exclusive interview with Ben Lamm, co-founder and CEO of Colossal who re-affirmed their excitement and belief in being able to resurrect the species by the end of the decade. It also reflected the aim and ambition of the Metro Social Video team as they look to create more original, innovative content. It has so far gained over 1.9 Million views on Instagram, as well as over 4.1 Million views on TikTok. A huge congratulations to Anna for the hardwork and creative thought behind the successful video

We are delighted to announce our nominations for the Inspire Global Media Awards (#IGMAs) in the Consumer Newspaper Feature of the Year – Africa & Indian Ocean category. The article nominated is “Animal Magic in the Congo” by James Draven. It details his once-in-a-lifetime trek through the Republic of Congo’s rainforest, one of the most biodiverse and fascinating places on Earth to study wildlife – and includes a memorable encounter with a swarm of sweat bees! The piece also tells the story of Dr Magdalena, who uses the Ngaga lodge as her base of operations while conducting groundbreaking research on one of the area’s most famous residents – the critically endangered western lowland gorillas. Having lived alongside the gorillas since 1991, Magda is now the world’s leading authority on the species. Her research has been transformative, and most recently, she has harnessed the power of AI to analyse 60,000 hours of footage, uncovering over 250 unique social interactions and shedding new light on gorilla behaviour. Before James was able to trek and experience the gorilla's for himself in an incredible account A truly incredible first-hand account, which you can read in full below – congratulations once again to James!

We are delighted to announce our nominations for the Inspire Global Media Awards (#IGMAs) in the Consumer Newspaper Feature of the Year – Africa & Indian Ocean category. First up is the brilliant piece 'Join the Queens of the Kruger', by Lauren Jarvis. It highlights the world’s first all-female anti-poaching unit, the Black Mambas, and details Lauren’s time on patrol with them. This powerful article showcases the incredible work these women are doing through their non-violent boots-on-the-ground conservation work. Their efforts to engage with the local community have made a meaningful impact, significantly reducing poaching levels in Kruger, one of the world’s last great wilderness areas. It also shines a spotlight on the work of the Intrepid Foundation, which supports this project as well as responsible tourism, conservation, and community initiatives worldwide. Through the UK-based charity Helping Rhinos, they provide funding for the Black Mambas' work which can also help protect rhinos, which are increasingly threatened with extinction through poaching. You can read the full article below, and congratulations once again Lauren!
