Fun Fact! The grasshopper symbol comes from Sir Thomas Gresham’s family, with a story that an ancestor was rescued as a baby by a chirping grasshopper. When Gresham founded the Royal Exchange in 1565, he added a grasshopper weathervane to honour that history.
