How do you keep your team safe during dark mornings and afternoons? 🌃 Now winter is here, soon you'll have shifts starting in the dark, and ending in the dark. If they work outside, the question is have you considered their safety in low visibility conditions? There's a few things to think about: 🦺High visibility clothing, either yellow or orange probably needs to be worn if there is any traffic around, whether forklifts or roads. Class 1, 2 or 3? 🥾Safety footwear needs to be up to standard, and the increased risk of slips, trips and falls may need to be risk assessed for low light conditions. 🔦Is your team on foot a lot? Investing in a good torch or floodlight is a must, and does a lot for increasing the safety on the job, whether maintenance staff or plant operators. 👉Speak to your PPE supplier to see what they stock! #mfsafety #workwear #ppe #safety --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sub-photos credit Ledlenser Global H7R (in stock by the way 😉)

So, when buying a winter coat, what's the differences to actually look for? You need to assess your priorities, then rate them👇 Sounds simple, until you put it in writing! ➡️1st up, what style are you after. Smart? Hi Vis? Long? Short? Fashionable? Heated? Corporate colours? Then, you'll have a starting point to start diving a bit deeper, for example: ➡️Waterproof - one of the major reasons to buy a coat, and your choice will open or close different options quickly! ❌No - Softshells, Puffer Jackets, Fleeces, Gilets, and some entry level hi vis are not necessarily waterproof but might be resistant. ✔️Yes - If being out in the rain for long time periods, look for a rating of 10,000mm+ to really know you can trust that coat. 15,000 or 20,000 is better though! ➡️Warmth - with winter coming up, it's likely you'll say yes to this one? ❌No - Shell jackets or packaways for example focus on wateproofness, and don't add any warmth. ✔️Yes - Most Puffer Jackets, Padded Coats, Lined Jackets etc all offer warmth. You may also see the EN 342 rating used. At this point you'll likely have a pretty good idea about what you can get as your ideal winter coat, but what happens when you've narrowed it down to just a couple of products? ❓Do they give the same waterproof rating? ❓Are the prices similar - if not, why? ❓Does one have more features, like pockets? ❓Is the styling of one more to your tastes? ➡️At the end of the day, after you've decided on the functions you need it all comes down to personal taste! 👉Still struggling? Contact your workwear provider! P.S. Layering up is often the best way to keep warm 🔥 #mfsafety #workwear #ppe #wintercoats

With the current rainy weather, it's crucial to know whether your jacket is waterproof, and to what extent. This is covered by the EN 343 standard❓ What is it? The EN 343:2019 standard has three values which indicate the level of protection the user gets when wearing the product. ⬇️ 1️⃣ The first value indicates the product's waterproofness against precipitation, fog and humidity. 2️⃣ The second value refers to the breathability of the overall product. Both values are assessed on a scale of 1–4, with 4 being the highest value. 3️⃣ The third value is optional and indicated by an R or an X. The R means the product has been tested during a downpour. ⛈️ The EN 343 rating also involves some testing of wear and abrasion, so it is harder to achieve than with the test for non-workwear garments, which have ratings measured in mm based on the volume of water which the fabric can withstand before it soaks through. You may also see these on workwear garments like the Leo Workwear Marisco Jacket, which has a rating of 20,000mm which is extremely waterproof! ❓If your workers are asking "why does my hi-vis stormcoat leak in heavy rain?" The answer might be to do with taped seams. If a cheaper product just has a waterproof coating without taped seams, over time in a heavy downpour water will get through. 👉If you are looking for top class protection for workers exposed to the harshest elements, get in touch with us! sales@mfsafety.co.uk +44 (0)115 925 2261 Read the full article here: ➡️https://lnkd.in/eCy8rghN #mfsafety #ppe #workwear #waterproof #standards

New boots!! After 6 years, my trusty Lavoro Kenobi boots have been replaced by...... - new Kenobis. 🙂 After seeing the first sample in 2018, I was blown away by the quality of leather and fit, so decided that they were going to be my next pair of boots - 6 years later, many miles and hours of use, the soles are now worn through the outer layer, so time to replace. OK, I admit I don't wear them 10 hours a day/5 days a week and I am quite easy on footwear, but I have given them a fair amount of hammer. If you are looking for a quality, comfortable boot, I have no problem recommending these. oh - the laces are the originals.
