  • Mid Yorkshire, in partnership with Concept Management Consulting Limited, has been shortlisted as a finalist in the MRW (Materials Recycling World) National Recycling Awards 2024 in recognition of a pioneering approach to sustainable waste management. The partnership is shortlisted in the Partnership Excellence (Public/Private sector) category and the joint initiative has enabled the reduction in carbon emissions associated with IT equipment disposal – known as e-waste – to be measured. This is centred around innovative software which measures the carbon emissions generated from the collection, transportation and processing of IT equipment. Collecting and recycling e-waste has resulted in reduced carbon emissions, helping the Trust meet its environmental targets and contributing to carbon reduction goals, whilst also demonstrated compliance with the NHS net-zero emissions mandate. The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on 26 November. You can read more on our website https://bit.ly/MRWaward24

  • We are pleased to announce that Mid Yorkshire was named as a winner at the recent NHS Forest Awards for 2024. This was in the category of ‘Most trees planted on an NHS Forest site’, and was in recognition of the 4,000 trees which were planted at our Pinderfields site as part of a native hedgerow initiative. A mix of native broadleaf species, gifted by NHS Forest, were planted by over 50 volunteers across five days. These have formed a new 800-metre-long boundary hedgerow around the Pinderfields Hospital fence line which helps to provide a host of sustainability benefits and essential food and shelter for a wide array of wildlife.   You can read more about the tree planting initiative here https://lnkd.in/g5T2uCi5
