REMEMBER THE '4S' THIS WINTER ❄ SHELTER - STABILTY - SAFETY - SUPPORT As winter fast approaches are you starting to think about the homeless? For many who sleep rough, they are acutely aware of what they don’t have and that is SHELTER - STABILITY - SAFETY - SUPPORT. People that are homeless lack resources. They often lack motivation too as they are disconnected from their families and friends. People that are homeless disassociate meaning that they can’t stay warm. They are exposed to the elements and simply have to put on more layers. The reality is that they are susceptible to death. A fact that you may not know is that many homeless people die in their 40s. They often die alone because they have become so isolated and alienated from society they intentionally hide themselves away. How can you support them? It doesn’t have to always be about money. It can be about remembering their face, checking in on them, saying hello, alerting local services to where they are to keep them safe and not so invisible. Relationship breakdowns are often the catalyst for homelessness. Being a friend might give them the confidence to overcome those hurdles to finally climb out of homelessness for good. TAKE TIME TO THINK ABOUT THE HOMELESS THIS WINTER !!!! #homeless #homelessness #winter #safety #stability #shelter #support

This is Midlands Living CIC's residents newsletter for November 2024. Many thanks to the various wellbeing and employability advisory agencies, including Birmingham City Council departments featured in this newsletter, for their valuable collaboration activities with our housing support workers. Their engagement has greatly benefited our residents in supported exempt accommodation, especially highlighted in their good news stories and progress activities in the newsletter. We hope other supported housing providers and professionals will find the advisory information and tenancy engagement activities highlighted in this newsletter insightful. And, as always, apologies for the bad animal jokes! 😂

What will be announced in todays Autumn Budget? The chancellor has already announced that it would be a Budget for economic growth and investment, but she gave little clue about what the government might do on taxes and spending. Ourselves and the rest of the country wait in anticipation to hear about ... 1. Tax rises 2. £240m in funding for services to get people back in to work 3. Announcements around affordable housing. 4. Announcements on funding to improve crumbling schools 5. Funding for nurseries, breakfast clubs and childcare 6. The possibility that VAT exemption for private schools is about to be scrapped 7. Billions to be allocated to NHS to assist with waiting lists 8. The expansion of the Carer's Allowance What do you think should be announced in the Autumn Budget? Leave your thoughts in the comments. #budget #autumnbudget #uk #chancellor

Happy Friday Everyone? How has your week been? We have had another productive week. Checkout some of the property upgrades we have been on with. This time we have been in #Blackpool. It is important to us that our tenants live in environments that they feel safe and comfortable in just like this one here. This supported living property is currently being refurbished using some government funding that we secured. It has had new flooring, new plumbing and heating, a new kitchen, a new bathroom and redecoration. There is still some minor works to complete in the property. Keep an eye on our socials for further info 👍 #supportedhousing #supportedliving #independentliving #tacklinghomelessness #propertyrenovations
