Our Meet the Bees event was buzzing! After a safety briefing, attendees donned protective bee suits to explore one of the Park's beehives. They learned all about these amazing creatures and were given the unique opportunity to hold a frame teeming with honeybees. At Milton Park, we're committed to maintaining a zero-to-landfill waste policy. Each year, we process approximately 250 tonnes of mixed recycling, reducing our environmental impact. Our dedicated maintenance team partners with Happy Earth Soil, a local Oxfordshire company, to collect green waste across the estate. This waste is then converted into organic compost, which we use to nourish the Park's plants and urban garden plots. We've also implemented a chemical-free policy where possible to eliminate the use of pesticides. Our Park is home to over 200 types of bees, including solitary bees, nature's best pollinators and key to keeping the Park’s flowerbeds buzzing! 🐝 We've introduced several measures to attract pollinators to the park, such as wildflower meadows and bamboo canes for nesting, as well as sand and soil areas for ground-nesting bees. We have six beehives housing over 70,000 honeybees, managed by Nurture Group who provide trained beekeepers to keep the bees happy and healthy.
