NEW TOUR ALERT‼️
We have put together a new 17 day tour that explores the best of Madagascar. This tour goes from Antananarivo - Andasibe - Antsirabe - Ranomafana National Park - Isalo National Park - Tulear.
🍃 Andasibe-Mantadia National Park is characterised by protected rainforest and is made up of two significant national parks, Analamazaotra National Park and Mantadia National Park. Of the two, the rainforested region of Analamazaotra is the most visited because of its dense populations of the loud and vocal indri lemur. The Mantadia region encompasses stretches of old-primary rainforest, alive with amphibians, birdlife and lemurs. Birders will delight in knowing that the rare blue coua bird is found within these damp montane forests.
🌱 Ranomafana National Park: Established as Madagascar's fourth national park in 1991 following the rediscovery of the greater bamboo lemur (Hapalemur simus) and the discovery of the golden bamboo lemur (Hapalemur aureus) by the primatologist Dr. Patricia Wright.
The park protects more than 41,600 hectares of tropical rainforest at elevations ranging from 800 to 1,200 m and is home to several rare species of plants and animals. It was later integrated into the UNESCO World Heritage Site Rainforests of the Atsinanana.
🇲🇬 Isalo National Park was created in 1962 and has been administered by the Madagascar National Parks authority since 1997. The Bara people have traditionally inhabited this area, a nomadic people subsisting on zebu farming. Isalo is primarily within the dry deciduous forests ecoregion, an ecoregion in which natural vegetation has been reduced by almost 40% of its original extent. It also includes landscapes considered part of the subhumid forest ecoregion, an ecoregion that is home to numerous endemic species and has been given Critical/Endangered status because only small areas of native habitat remain and most of those are highly fragmented. The woodlands of Isalo are dominated by the endemic tree tapia. This is a woodland type that is restricted in distribution; found only in Madagascar's central highlands. Some of the largest intact areas of tapia woodlands are found in Isalo. Isalo is one of Madagascar’s most visited natural parks. The climate here is dry so you can visit year-round without having to worry about huge downpours.
🌵 Ifaty Baobab Reserve: Located just a short distance from the city, this pristine reserve is a must-visit for nature lovers and wildlife enthusiasts.
The main highlight of Reniala Private Reserve is its unique spiny forest. This distinctive ecosystem is home to a wide variety of flora and fauna that cannot be found anywhere else in the world. Visitors can take guided tours through the forest, learning about the various plant species and spotting rare bird species along the way.
This trip covers some of the very best National Parks in Madagascar.
