We’re extremely proud to announce our partnership with the BBC DIYSOS team!! And we are thrilled to be on-site in Reading today for the renovation of a young family’s home! 🏡 This is the first time we’ve partnered with DIY SOS, and it’s a fantastic opportunity for us to give something back. While we can’t reveal too much just yet (you’ll have to wait for the big reveal on TV!), we’re proud to be part of this heart-warming project and look forward to future collaborations with the team on upcoming builds. Our Director, Martin Hedges, provides a video update from the site, giving us an insight into what it's like to be a part of such a fast-moving project! Stay tuned for more behind the scenes updates!

The restoration of this 19th-century farmhouse and pub has kept the design team busy and it's great to see these first-look images of this Wiltshire gem. Thank you to Spratley & Partners for sharing! #Restoration #CivilEngineering #StructuralEngineering #ConservationArea
We’re pleased to share a first look at our project, 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝗕𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝗱, in Wiltshire’s Great Durnford Conservation Area. Once a 19th-century farmhouse and pub, it has been restored and expanded into a welcoming countryside retreat and a community cornerstone for locals and visitors. The building is part of the Great Durnford Estate, which is renowned for reintroducing the Great Bustard, a bird that was once near extinction. The pub takes its name from these birds, which now thrive in the surrounding landscape. More to come... #HospitalityDesign #BoutiqueHotels #HistoricRestoration

A big thank you to Funlab Architecture for this case study on a recent project! Morgan Civil and Structural provided investigative services and planning support, collaborating with the design team to secure approval to transform an unused stable block in Cardiff into a fantastic new residential property. #Residential #Regeneration #PositivePlanningOutcome
𝗖𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝘆: 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗡𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵 𝗦𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲𝘁 This fascinating small residential conversion achieved planning approval in 2024 led by Cardiff based Amity Planning. This unloved stone stable block was not eligible for Class Q Permitted Development due to the former equestrian use. The site is located outside the settlement boundary. Thus policy wasn't in favour of development, however Amity did find a clause that would support conversion assuming that the structure was technically sound and that only a percentage of the existing building would be lost. There were other considerations around flora & fauna plus wildlife habitats that needed to be considered, however in this instance the ecology was fairly straight forward, all things considered. Morgan Structural were appointed to investigate the existing structure to ascertain the integrity of the stone building and if it has the potential to be converted within the parameters stated in the planning policy. Between the physical and policy constraints set out be Morgan and Amity the architectural proposal could be developed by Funlab. The client is looking to downsize, so a 2 bedroom single storey dwelling has been proposed which retains the vast majority of the existing structure along with a small extension to provide additional living space, this will be a contemporary timber clad 'box' that will contrast with the retained stone structure for a unique small home. While a modest development in terms of scale, the client found their 'grand design' plot so by employing a strong multi-disciplinary design team the land could be unlocked by ticking the policy boxes, it took some time but we got the result for the client at the first time of asking, big win. Following on from a recent conversation with the client we could be heading into Stage 4 during 2025. We will certainly keep you posted... Building Balance – Solutions for Change! ⚖️ Congratulations to Helen James and the Women in Property South West for hosting such an insightful and thought-provoking event yesterday! 🎉 Members of Morgan Civil and Structural, Andrew Griffiths and Emma Burman, had the opportunity to attend the Building Balance – Solutions for Change event, where we explored the challenges of achieving work-life balance and the real impact of flexible working in our industry. Helen James led the discussion, sharing the findings of a survey inspired by her own experience. A panel of experts sparked engaging conversations about the systemic barriers faced and how, as an industry, although changes are being made, we need to do better in fostering inclusivity and flexibility. It’s clear that achieving balance isn’t just a personal struggle—it’s a collective challenge that affects recruitment, retention, and workplace culture. Following the presentation and panel discussion, attendees took part in a workshop to identify key barriers and explore actionable solutions. The discussions were filled with energy and passion, highlighting a shared commitment within the industry to drive real change. To make a meaningful impact, it was agreed that we must: ✅ Acknowledge the real needs of carers and employees ✅ Create policies that are genuinely flexible and inclusive ✅ Lead by example, from the top down - including at middle management level ✅ Ensure transparency when advertising roles and benefits ✅ Inspire the next generation by engaging with schools and outreach programs to promote a more inclusive future We left with a host of actionable ideas to drive change within our own business. Now, it’s time to put them into practice!🚀 #FlexibleWorking #InclusiveWorkplace #WomenInProperty #BuildingBalance #Leadership
