  • Thanks to Les Witten for these fantastic progress pics from our Sloane Club project. Morrison Design are the appointed architects for an extensive refurbishment of the private member’s club in Mayfair, London. We have completed the refurbishment of over half of the 56 bedrooms and 7 suites across three floors with a further two floors due for completion in spring.  Phase 1 of the ground floor, which includes reception, lounges and bars, is progressing well with completion expected in the next couple of months. Les Witten, Associate Director at Morrison Design, said: “We’re really seeing the project coming to life now with half of the guest bedrooms complete and the ground floor areas taking shape. The structure has been craned in for the new all-season roof terrace which is going to be an incredible space when complete.” Morrison Design are delighted to be collaborating with Russell Sage Studio (interior design), Thornley & Lumb Partnership Ltd (M&E consultant),  Axiom Structures (structural & civil engineer) and 3 Interiors (contractor). #hotelarchitect #hospitalityarchitect

  • The Morrison Design team enjoyed a wonderful sustainability lunch and learn session today. The team were challenged to contribute to a sustainable fuddle, bringing in British (and Derbyshire) produce including lots of plastic free items. We enjoyed locally made breads and cheeses as well as some delicious homemade treats. During the session we learnt more about wildlife, deforestation and the impact of plastic on the environment, as well as some positive environmental news via Sam Bentley. We finished off by quizzing our team on some environmental facts and figures, including a ‘name the species’ picture round. We also tallied up our team’s environmental pledges - a scheme we kicked off in Summer 2024 where our team could ‘earn’ a tree to be planted. We’re delighted to announce that we’ve planted our first 10 trees on behalf of our team via Treeapp. Well done team! #sustainability #plantmoretrees

  • Thanks to Michael Clarke who took some fantastic photos of the Future Mobility Zone on his recent site visit. The project involves a sustainable travel zone based at the University of Derby’s Kedleston Road site - with Morrison Design as the appointed architects. The hub, a partnership between Derby City Council and the University of Derby, will be a first of its kind in the city, offering multiple transport choices in one place and enhancing sustainable travel facilities for students and staff. Michael said: “We are really pleased with how the Glulam structure is progressing on site. As the project is continuously taking shape it is also starting to exhibit the university’s sustainable targets and aspirations which is fantastic to see.” Morrison Design are working with Seddon (Main Contractor), Rodgers Leask (Structural and Civil Engineers), CPW (Building Services) and SOCOTEC Building Control (Approved Inspectors). #architects #highereducationarchitects #sustainablearchitects

  • The Morrison Design team are proud to announce that we raised £2,442 for Alzheimer's Society in 2024. The charity was chosen as our Charity of the Year by the team who have gone over and above to raise vital funds. 🚴 John Robson, Senior Architectural Technician, was our stand out fundraiser, raising £1,136 from cycling 2,024 miles through the year, including commuting 15 miles on a Raleigh Chopper. The whole team are immensely proud of his achievements. 🏊 The rest of the team took part in various activities over the summer, from swimming and cycling to stepping and trekking. Well done and thank you to all that took part - James Parratt, Jo, Nik Clarke. Liam Feldman, Cinzia Russo, Les Witten, Sophie Cantrill and Josh Bolt. 🚲 We ended the year with a retro bike race between our Directors. The competition was fierce but Dave was victorious. A huge thank you to Nik Clarke, Peter Newman-Earp and David Gardner for being such good sports. 💙 Finally, we’d like to give the biggest thanks to each and every person who has donated to our fundraising efforts this year. • One Last Ride John Robson, Senior Architectural Technician at Morrison Design, has successfully completed his 2,024 mile challenge with one last ride around our local park, Darley Abbey. John has been raising money for Alzheimer's Society, a charity close to his heart after both of his parents suffered with dementia. He has raised a staggering £1,036. The challenge has seen John averaging around 39 miles per week, every week during 2024. With no time off for holidays he’s cycled on an exercise bike on a cruise ship and on holiday in North Carolina. But it’s not all been plain sailing as he’s contended with some terrible weather and, just when he thought things may improve, the Great British Summer brought lots more rain. As if this challenge wasn’t difficult enough, John decided to renovate a vintage Raleigh Chopper and ride his 15 mile Ashbourne to Derby commute on it. After one mile round Darley Abbey park Pete and Josh can vouch for just how difficult this bike is to ride. Nik Clarke, Director, said: “The whole Morrison Design team are immensely proud of John. The commitment and dedication he’s shown throughout the year is inspiring. The money he has raised will support Alzheimer’s Society’s goal to work towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. Well done John - enjoy your well deserved Christmas break.” John’s year in numbers: 🚴 2024 miles ridden 🙏£1006 raised 🚲 630 miles ridden on an exercise bike 💰 £300 raised from the Raleigh Chopper auction 🥵 23 miles ridden on a Raleigh Chopper 🥰 19 very kind donors  😨 11 miles ridden at the velodrome 🌍 Cycled in 4 different countries (UK, France, Spain, USA) 😬 2 punctures 🏅 1 challenge completed John’s JustGiving page will be accepting donations until mid-January, so if you’d like to donate, please click here: https://lnkd.in/e65wydd5

  • Ho ho ho! The Morrison Design team are well and truly in the Christmas spirit this year after Secret Santa, hosted by Santa Claus himself (AKA Peter Newman-Earp!) 🎅🎅🎅 Our director’s took part in a charity retro bike race on Monday for Alzheimer's Society and Pete came in bronze medal position; his forfeit was to dress as Santa for the day. Best Secret Santa gift went to James who was gifted a dog poo bag dispenser 🐶💩 The team were rocking their Christmas jumpers and are getting ready for a festive night out this evening. As for Santa Claus, he magically disappeared quickly after Secret Santa was done…. 🏃♂️ #ChristmasFun #SantaIKnowHim
