Nine homes have been handed over at our Goodsmoor Road development in Sinfin, with more to follow over the next few weeks. Demolition began on this brownfield old ammunitions yard end of 2023 and there now stands 75 two-, three-, four- bedroom homes and one-bed maisonettes. All homes have been constructed with timber frame throughout, and have been designed to reduce noise from the nearby train line and existing factory warehouse. There is a dedicated ecology area where we have protected an existing lagoon, a haven for wildlife, and we have also installed bird and bat boxes throughout the development, as well as retaining two World War II pillboxes which are said to be the only of their kind in the Country. It's been a pleasure to work on this development with Nottingham Community Housing Association, and we hope this is the first of many. 👉 30 x Bird Boxes 👉 2 x Bird Feeders 👉 2 x Planters That's what we donated to a nursery close to our Sapcote Road project. 😊 To reduce waste materials, which would normally go to a recycling centre or landfill, we shipped off-cut timber to a local prison in partnership with our friends at Bakers Environmental Solutions. The inmates repurposed the timber into the items mentioned above.❤️ A big thank you to the site team at Sapcote Road and Megan Crate of Bakers Waste for identifying an opportunity to re-purpose the timber and donating it to the nursery. When good people come together, great things happen! James Kilcullen Ashley Ineson Simon Preston Edward Lowe Abdul Mozzamdar

Great to welcome Councillor Steve Evans to our Magic Gardens development off Sandmere Rise in Bushbury and Ettingshall Road in Bilston. Both sites ,appointed by City of Wolverhampton Council, will see the transformation of two derelict brownfield sites into sustainable homes - 8 bungalows at Magic Gardens and 11 houses on Ettingshall Road. The new ‘A’ Rated, gas-free homes with solar panels, are being constructed using sustainable building methods and, following three months of ground works, the timber frames are now being installed at both sites. The carbon footprint of a timber frame is less than traditional structures, and this modern method of construction also helps to reduce energy consumption, helping to keep residents’ bills to a minimum. All homes will be available for affordable rent, with construction across both sites expected to be complete by summer 2025. More than 40 years after working as a cleaner at the Former Royal Hospital, Alison Ford shares her experience with BBC News, reflecting on what it’s like to now live in the same building where she once worked. Transforming the Grade II Listed Building into a thriving wellbeing centre and community for over 55's has been fantastic, breathing new life into a building that has been stood still since 1997. The former hospital, now named Nightingale house, has been carefully developed and designed whilst keeping its historical significance, blending historical preservation and modern innovation, carefully restoring key features whilst incorporating sustainable design elements. We are very proud of what has been achieved with whg and sets the standard for what is possible in the regeneration of historic buildings. Morro continues to grow from strength to strength, making a significant impact on the partnerships landscape across the West & East Midlands region. This success is driven by our passionate and dedicated teams, whose hard work and innovation have made Morro one of the largest-forward thinking partnerships businesses in the region. As we sustainably grow, it’s vital that our structure evolves to reflect and support the incredible talent and dedication behind our success. Recently, we announced the appointments of Tom Broadway and Simon Preston as the first steps in the next phase of our journey, and we are thrilled to reveal the creation of a new operational senior management board at Morro. This board will comprise several group and regional departmental directors, each leading their respective areas to ensure we stay at the cutting edge of people development, partnerships, and innovation. Their focus will be on driving excellence in systems, processes, mentoring, training, and more - ensuring every department has the tools and support to thrive. Congratulations to Luke Reynolds, Giovanni Corbo, Suki Deol, Mark Eustace, Ashley Ineson, Gavin Ward (MCIOB), Ian Jackson, Christopher Wickham & Kay Ash.

Did you know that libraries in the Sandwell Council Borough open their doors to anyone from the community who would like some company and a hot drink? What a simple but effective initiative! 😊 We were approached by Michael Wragg from Sandwell Council with a call to action for donations of mugs for the libraries, so that they can continue to provide this much needed service. We answered the call and donated brand new coffee mugs and travel cups. If you would like to donate mugs to this wonderful cause, please do reach out to Michael Wragg.

What an incredible start to the year! 👏 This morning, The Lighthouse Charity visited our Battlefield team in Shrewsbury, to raise awareness about mental health in the construction industry and share how they can support our team and their families when needed. The charity is visiting all our sites across the Midlands, delivering informal chats with our team and supply chain. #ConstructionCharity #MentalHealthCharity #MentalHealthConstruction
