  • Welcome Aboard, Stephen! We'd love to give a big MTP welcome to Stephen Gandy, who's been quietly making waves on our machining team for the past few months! Stephen brings a whopping 40+ years of experience in the trade, and we're thrilled to have his expertise on board. We know his skills will be a huge asset as we continue to create top-notch Motherwell Tank Protection products. When Stephen's not turning out precision parts, you might find him reeling in a trophy fish or cheering on his favourite football team (we won't pry into which one). This family man brings a wealth of knowledge and a passion for the industry that's already infectious! Stephen already knew of MTP before joining us, so when he saw the machinist role advertised, he jumped at the chance to apply, and we're so glad he did! He's eager to learn more about our specific products, in particular our CNC380 series of breather valves and our CNC121 emergency vents. We can't wait to see Stephen continue to grow with the team. Help us to give Stephen a warm welcome in the comments!

  • Let's give a warm welcome to Lauren Barker, our new Trainee Sales Engineer! Lauren is the second eldest of four siblings, with two brothers and a sister. At home, she keeps herself company with her adorable Chihuahua, Dottie. When it comes to work, Lauren is all about organisation and preparation. For her, these go hand in hand – a well-prepared plan is an organised plan, and vice versa! This organised nature extends beyond the office too, as Lauren enjoys hitting the gym and tackling mountain climbs in her free time. Lauren isn't afraid of a challenge, which is exactly what drew her to MTP. She's excited to learn the ropes in a new role and is grateful for the warm welcome and helpfulness of her colleagues. Lauren's background in technical sales has already proven to be a valuable asset, making the transition to MTP a smooth one. While Lauren loves getting stuck into a good project (especially when it's well organised!), she also loves getting stuck into a good BBQ! This is also a perfect time for enjoying the outdoors with friends and family. This may be one of Lauren's favourite times of the year, however Christmas holds a special place in her heart, especially when there's a blanket of snow on the ground! We're thrilled to have Lauren on board and look forward to seeing her talents blossom at MTP! Lauren's future aspirations are clear; she's eager to learn and grow within her role, with the goal of one day having the same depth of knowledge as her colleague Andrew.

  • April's Employee spotlight falls on one of our now retired ex-employees. Meet George, a vital part of the Motherwell family for an incredible 28 years (and counting!) ⚙️ George's journey began with a traditional engineering apprenticeship at Hawthorns, where he honed his skills and rose to the rank of Workshop Foreman. After Hawthorns closed, an old friend brought him to Motherwell, where his talent again shone through. He quickly climbed the ranks to Workshop Foreman once more! Though he officially retired in 2011, George's dedication to Motherwell hasn't wavered. He's always there to lend a hand on special projects, showcasing his unwavering commitment. But George's passion for engineering extends beyond Motherwell. He has a fully equipped workshop in his garden, where he continues to tinker and create! He also enjoys using his expertise to help his children with their DIY projects – what a fantastic dad! Perhaps George's proudest achievement is mentoring apprentices. He takes immense satisfaction in passing on his knowledge and helping them reach their full potential. One of his former apprentices even became the Operations Director at MTP – a true testament to George's lasting impact! Thank you, George, for your dedication, expertise, and passion that inspire us all!

  • This month's employee spotlight shines on Kirsty, a fantastic member of our team for the past 5 years! When Kirsty isn't keeping our purchase ledger in tip-top shape, she's likely to be found enjoying the outdoors with her family and their adorable cockapoo. Kirsty actually came to MTP by chance – on a walk with her furry friend, she met another cockapoo owner who, coincidentally, worked here and knew about a job opening! Kirsty's career path might be full of surprises – each of her roles has been completely different from the last. But as she says, there's always something valuable to learn and transferable skills to be found in every experience. Here at MTP, Kirsty tackles a variety of administrative tasks alongside the purchase ledger, proving that her adaptability and positive attitude are real assets to the team. And let's not forget her patience! As a mum of grown-up children, Kirsty often finds herself saying the very same phrases to our apprentices that she used on her own kids back in the day – we think it comes with the territory! Thanks for being a part of the MTP family, Kirsty!
