Movetru® reposted this
This week I had the incredible opportunity to join host Susan HayesCulleton CFA, "The Positive Economist" at InterTradeIreland Venture Capital Conference to discuss ‘Raising significant angel funding round in UK and Ireland’ alongside Denise McQuaid, Andrea Sinclair, and Niamh Sterling. It was empowering to be on the stage with our investors who have believed in and supported Movetru. By having investors who have a track record of success from business to raising funds, their advice is always insightful. On stage it was an honour to officially announce the investment of AwakenAngels, HBAN, and Angel Academe - increasing female investment into Movetru®! These outstanding partners have been pivotal on the Movetru journey and will continue to be as we hit this next chapter. I’ve now left Dublin and in Austin for SXSW. Hit me up if you’re here! 🇺🇸

We were honoured to be featured in a recent Forbes’ article on “AI and The Future of Women’s Sports: A Technological Renaissance.” The article highlights the growing traction of women’s sports and how an increase in innovation and investment is transforming the industry. With the large disparity in the occurrence of preventable injuries compared to male athletes, this article magnifies how vital it is for new technologies in the field of performance tracking, injury mitigation, and data-driven insights that are committed to female athletes. By incorporating AI into these issues, challenges such as high rates of ACL injuries among female athletes can be battled in novel ways. This article was written by a partner at Goddess Gaia Ventures, a venture capital fund dedicated to investing in groundbreaking health solutions for women. Movetru was recognised as a cutting-edge technology helping to shape the future of sports by providing actionable insights which will inform training decisions and enhance athlete potential. This industry shift is long overdue, and we are proud to be driving it forward. At Movetru, we are redefining what is possible for athletes. With our unwavering commitment to injury prevention and performance improvement, female athletes will be empowered to take control of their own movement, and push themselves to reach new heights without fear. As a female-founded company, Movetru believes that the disparities seen in sports need to be directly addressed, and we will always consider how our product can make life better for all. A huge thank you to Goddess Gaia Ventures for recognizing our impact alongside other trailblazing companies working to create a more equitable future for female athletes. ‘It has honestly changed my perspective on life and I have learned to not take anything for granted.” Our sports scientist, Roisin McCormick, travelled to Kenya for the Warriors for Humanity Plant the Planet Games. She joined a group of Irish GAA stars and musicians aiming to plant one million trees, each representing livelihood for a family, in partnership with Self Help Africa. This project also sought to train farmers on managing these trees to ensure they are cared for and serving their purpose far beyond this project. This ensures the work leaves a strong impact benefiting families for generations to come. About this enriching experience, Roisin has said, “it was an amazing, once in a lifetime experience filled with warmth and kindness from everyone I met. Kenya is filled with welcome and warmth, which made it so easy to love the country and the people. I met friends for life and look forward to meeting them further down the line and reflecting on our work.” She also took part in the second ever All-star Male and Female game in Africa. The trip also included ‘Flight of the Swallows’ a group of musicians and dancers from Ireland (including many sports stars) who participated in an authentic cross-cultural music and dance exchange with their Kenyan hosts. Roisin has helped to raise over €8000 for this project! Donations are still open here: https://lnkd.in/esjPRxri

On November 28th, Movetru had the opportunity to showcase at the Friendship Four, an annual college ice hockey tournament and conference held in Belfast. This was the seventh year of the only college ice hockey tournament to take place outside of the US, with four teams being selected to compete the weekend of Thanksgiving. We had meetings and product demos with the teams competing as they trained ahead of the competition. Taking part were the University of Notre Dame, Boston University, Harvard University, and Merrimack College, with Boston University ultimately being crowned the winners! Movetru were honoured to participate in PER4MANCE, The Odyssey’s Trust new sports performance conference. This event took place in W5, an award-winning science and discovery centre, and brought together experts, innovators, and elite performers. Movetru’s stand gained positive feedback and attention as we showcased our product and work with the Belfast Giants.
