October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, an international health campaign to remind individuals to get to know their body and understand the signs of breast cancer. To raise awareness, we have displayed posters across our messrooms and staff toilets to promote the message ‘Boobs, Balls, and Pecs, They ALL need a check.’ We also held a ‘Wear it pink day’, encouraging everyone to come in wearing something pink and make a donation to CoppaFeel! a breast cancer awareness charity. Anyone can get breast cancer, get to know your normal by checking your breasts regularly. The best way to do this is to follow the TLC (Touch, Look and Check) process: TOUCH your breasts – can you feel anything new or unusual? LOOK for changes – does anything look different? CHECK any changes with your GP. Operating London’s landmark Elizabeth line
About us
At MTREL, we believe in the power of London’s railway network to connect families, friends, colleagues and communities. We were awarded the Elizabeth line concession by Transport for London (TfL) in July 2014, initially operating services under the interim TfL Rail branding, connecting Paddington to Reading and Heathrow in the west, and Liverpool Street with Shenfield in the east. In May 2022, the new Central Section was opened by Her Majesty the Queen, officially launching the new Elizabeth line and offering passengers a new way to travel initially between Paddington and Abbey Wood via Liverpool Street. The Elizabeth line is the most significant addition to London’s transport network in a generation, providing new journey options, cutting travel time and supporting regeneration across the capital. We are incredibly proud to be part of this transformative new railway, providing world-class customer service and performance.

Setting the standard for customer service on the RIBA award-winning Elizabeth line. At the Elizabeth line, we are incredibly proud to operate in a space that has been recognised with a prestigious RIBA award for its architectural excellence. This world-class infrastructure not only sets a new standard in design but also provides an inspiring environment for both our customers and colleagues. It’s in this award-winning setting that we deliver high-quality customer service in close collaboration with our partners, Transport for London and Rail for London. Working together is at the heart of what we do, and our recent customer satisfaction results are a testament to that teamwork. Transport Focus awarded the Elizabeth line an impressive 90 overall customer satisfaction score, placing us third among all Train Operating Companies (TOCs) across the UK. Transport for London’s own survey for Q2 24/25 gave us a score of 81, ranking the Elizabeth line first among all TfL modes, with our customer information score increasing by nearly three points, from 73.3 to 76. Operating in a challenging multi-stakeholder environment, these results highlight not only a commitment to excellence but also the power of collaboration in delivering a service that millions of customers can rely on every day. We couldn’t achieve these results without the collective effort of our colleagues and partners. Last week, I had the privilege of visiting Network Rail's Reading and West Ealing delivery units, where I was welcomed by the dedicated teams responsible for maintaining and managing railway infrastructure in the Thames Valley. During my visit, I explored their 'sandbox' testing environment, a critical space for safely trialling new technologies. This controlled setting allows Network Rail to experiment with signalling systems and maintenance tools, ultimately enhancing their operations before broader implementation across the network. The performance of the infrastructure that carries Elizabeth line trains beyond our Central Operating Section is fundamental to providing our customers with the service they deserve. It’s no secret that the performance on our western section has been challenging and Project Brunel an 18-month programme led by Network Rail to stabilise and enhance the railway in the Thames Valley is well underway to address that. Successfully delivering a project of this magnitude requires close co-operation between train operators and Network Rail. It’s a delicate balance of providing the necessary access while meeting our customers' needs. My discussions with Network Rail colleagues during this visit highlighted the complexities and challenges they face in delivering Project Brunel, and I truly appreciate their commitment to overcoming these hurdles. Thank you to Marcus Jones and colleagues for an insightful and productive visit. Together, we are making significant strides toward a more efficient and reliable railway service for our customers.

We're incredibly proud to announce that MTR Elizabeth line has won the Outstanding Project Award at the MTR Corporation Limited 香港鐵路有限公司 Work Improvement Team (WIT) Annual Presentation Ceremony in Hong Kong! Our Operations and Service Delivery Team's "On Track to 90" initiative, which is designed to enhance performance on the Elizabeth line, competed against our global colleagues from Metro Trains Melbourne and MTR Nordic. We’re thrilled to see the hard work of our team recognised on an international stage. As our Train Service Delivery Director, Nick Westcott, put it: "The 'On Track to 90' initiative has helped structure our approach to restoring Elizabeth line performance to where it should be – and it’s clear to see in the data that it’s doing just that. A big well done to James Linley CMILT, Ryan Underwood, and Jamie Power for representing us so brilliantly at the WIT Awards." This win is a testament to our continuous commitment to excellence and innovation in delivering world-class rail service. Thank you to everyone who contributed to making this happen! #MTREL #MTRCorporation #MTR45years #OnTrackTo90 #WIT2024 #ContinuousImprovement #Teamwork #ExcellenceInTransport

Collaboration in action: Joint working for a better future Old Oak Common will be the 42nd stop on the Elizabeth line and our HS2 Team has been tasked with supporting a programme of work that is deliverable while minimising the impact on our customers. Last month, they hosted a collaborative session with our valued partners at Network Rail, Transport for London and Rail for London to discuss how this could be achieved. This session was a fantastic opportunity to reinforce the importance of joint working as they focus on key areas within the project. Together, they explored crucial topics, including: ◾ The impact on our customers and what more they can do during all-line and two-track closures needed for project delivery. ◾ The end state of Old Oak Common station and its entry into service. ◾ The phases of station construction and how planned changes in track alignment will shape the future. ◾ The various timetable phases required throughout the project and its final state. This session highlighted the significance of shared expertise and collective problem-solving, ensuring that we continue to prioritise a seamless service for our customers and successful project outcomes. #Collaboration #JointWorking #HS2 #Teamwork #OldOakCommon #Elizabethline #Rail
