MA Members Survey shows huge financial pressure on museum sector 📄 Every year, we conduct a survey of our members across the UK. Our 2024/25 survey received more than 500 responses from people working in or with museums, offering a valuable insight into the current state of the sector. Our latest survey shows that the pressures on museums have increased significantly over the past year, with knock-on impacts to public engagement and access, collections care and management, and the wellbeing of the museum workforce. 61% of respondents say their museum, or the museum they work with, is planning cuts in services in 2024/25, compared to 51% the previous year. Take a look at our summary of the survey results to find out more about the results of such cuts to services and the impact of financial pressures on organisations and the individuals who work for and with them. #MuseumCuts #CostOfLivingCrisis

A dynamic membership organisation and a vibrant network for everyone working in museums and heritage.
About us
A dynamic membership organisation and a vibrant network for everyone working in museums and heritage. The Museums Association exists to enhance the value of museums to society by sharing knowledge, developing skills, inspiring innovation and providing leadership. We advocate for museums, set ethical standards and run essential training and professional development for members wishing to further their careers. Our annual conference is Europe's largest event for museum and heritage professionals. We are the oldest museums association in the world, set up in 1889 to guard the interests of museums and galleries. Today we are still independently funded by our membership, which comprises museum professionals, freelancers and consultants, institutions and commercial members.
