  • 🙋♀️ This Women's History Month we're highlighting a case study on how Glasgow Women's Library successfully expanded their volunteer programme to meet increased visitor demand. After achieving Recognition status for their collection, a newly appointed Collections Volunteer Coordinator helped train 15 new volunteers. These volunteers, many of whom had faced exclusion from museums due to educational, socio-economic, and cultural factors, have made a huge impact. Volunteers welcomed visitors, catalogued items across 12 collections, and helped diversify GWL’s audience. Their efforts have turned GWL into a shining example of best practice in volunteering. 🌟 🔗 Find the full case study on our website: https://lnkd.in/dBJf8hHm #WomensHistoryMonth #GlasgowWomensLibrary #VolunteerSuccess #Inclusivity

  • 🏆 This Modern Apprenticeship week we're sharing a case study on the humble beginnings of a small pilot programme that's had a huge impact on a museum and how they work with local communities. One learning centre, and several awards later, The Scottish Crannog Centre talk about the apprenticeship programme that kicked off their journey to becoming an accredited learning centre. 🎓 Five apprentices completed Scottish Vocational Qualification (SVQ) units while engaging with visitors and contributing to museum interpretation. The apprentices gained confidence and skills, and the museum benefitted from fresh ideas and strengthened community ties. The pilot scheme highlighted the transformative potential of young voices in the heritage sector. 🔗 Find the full case study on our website: https://lnkd.in/d6_jesbV
