We couldn’t believe it when we saw Breast Cancer Now post the news about the Enhertu drug being blocked for use in the NHS. This is devastating for all those undergoing breast cancer treatment and for those who will receive a future diagnosis. 'Enhertu is the first licensed targeted treatment for patients with HER2-low breast cancer that cannot be removed surgically or that has spread to other parts of the body, also known as metastatic breast cancer.' The Independent Baroness Delyth Morgan, chief executive at Breast Cancer Now, said: “This is a dark day for people affected by incurable secondary breast cancer. “NHS England, Nice, Daiichi Sankyo and AstraZeneca have failed people living with the disease. They’ve blocked a vital treatment that offers hope of more time to live for thousands of people with a certain type of secondary breast cancer.” Visit the Breast Cancer Now website to sign the petition to call on the drug companies involved to find a solution that will make Enhertu available on the NHS.

The Institute of Cancer Research have revealed that AI algorithms can help detect cancer earlier and can identify nuances in cancer types. Christina Messiou, a consultant radiologist at the Royal Marsden and professor in imaging for personalised oncology at the ICR, said: “We’re incredibly excited by the potential of this state-of-the-art technology, which could lead to patients having better outcomes through faster diagnosis and more effectively personalised treatment.”
