We're excited to present our research on private ADHD assessment in the UK, a topic that's growing in significance and importance. With the demand for ADHD assessment at record levels and the BBC reporting that the current backlog of NHS assessments would take eight years to clear, many of those waiting or thinking about assessment will likely consider turning to the private sector to speed things up. In June 2024, our researchers contacted 401 private ADHD clinics around the country and asked: ❓How much does a private ADHD assessment cost for adults and children? ❓How much does a follow-up consultation with a private psychiatrist cost? ❓What are the current waiting times for private assessments? In our write up. we've also detailed how to pay for a private ADHD assessment, highlighted some of the risks of going private, and explained why you should always discuss it with your GP first.
