Our team recently traded desks for a day at Hackney City Farm Limited, giving back to nature and reconnecting with the environment we work to protect. From weeding gardens and turning compost to spending time with the farm’s piglets 🐷, the day was both refreshing and a great reminder of our shared mission. 🚨 Nature must be at the core of business strategies, not just a side consideration. Last week, WWF-France released a report that highlights the critical need for credible corporate nature targets that align with science. As businesses face increasing pressure to address biodiversity loss, setting ambitious, science-based nature targets is no longer optional. It's essential. Here are some key takeaways from the report: 🌍 Companies must cover their entire value chain when setting nature targets, from direct operations to upstream and downstream impacts. 🖐️ Targets should address the five main pressures on nature: land and sea use change, direct exploitation of organisms, climate change, pollution, and invasive species. 📊 To be credible, nature targets must be science-based and grounded in ecological thresholds, ensuring alignment with local and global environmental needs. 🔍 A strong focus on transparency is critical. Companies need to clearly communicate the methodologies and assumptions behind their targets. It's clear that nature-positive business is no longer a nice-to-have. How are you setting nature targets in your organisation? #NaturePositive #Biodiversity #Sustainability #CorporateSustainability

Will you be there?
Our 4th Annual Natural Capital Summit, on November 28th at DoubleTree by Hilton - Docklands Riverside, London will be a pivotal platform for reviewing the insights and outcomes from COP16. Chaired by David Craig, Co-Chair, Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD), and with participation from other members of the TNFD team, this event will provide a unique opportunity for UK companies to align with global biodiversity goals, explore new investment opportunities, and integrate nature-positive practices into their strategies. Businesses worldwide are increasingly committing to protect and enhance biodiversity. From agribusinesses to asset managers, companies are integrating nature-positive strategies alongside their net-zero targets. This shift is crucial as the aim is to halt and reverse biodiversity loss, and to target an overall increase in nature by 2030. Despite this progress, the transition to a nature-positive economy is complex. Key challenges include quantifying biodiversity impacts, aligning business incentives with long-term sustainability goals, and ensuring equitable management of natural resources. Addressing these issues is essential for maintaining momentum and achieving global biodiversity targets. The upcoming COP16 in Cali, Colombia, will address these challenges head-on. Discussions will focus on enhancing national monitoring systems, accelerating biodiversity finance, and ensuring fair benefit-sharing from genetic resources. These decisions will shape the global framework for biodiversity conservation and set the stage for actionable commitments. Well said Gareth Hollywell 👏 And thanks for having us Hackney City Farm Limited
BDR and TA Specialist @ Natcap | Science-based nature intelligence (biodiversity & ecosystems, water, pollution)
This is what our Natcap volunteering day taught us about B2B SaaS............ Only joking, this isn't going to be one of those posts! Earlier this week, we took a break from the SaaS startup world to give back to our community. We spent the afternoon volunteering with Hackney City Farm Limited, and the experience reminded us of the importance of working together, stepping out of our daily routines, and contributing to something bigger than ourselves. It was an amazing opportunity to bond with colleagues, get out of our comfort zones, and make a tangible difference in the community. From shovelling manure to spreading wood chippings, we saw first hand the important part that nature plays in all of our lives. Here at Natcap, we believe in balancing business goals with social responsibility. Whether it’s through our business offering or hands-on work, we’re committed to making a positive impact. #NatcapCares #TeamWork #GivingBack #CommunitySpirit

Nature intelligence is critical for future business decisions. In a recent interview with LEFF our CEO, Sebastian Leape, discussed how integrating nature intelligence into business decisions not only helps tackle the biodiversity and climate crises, but also gives early adopters a strategic advantage. With regulations like TNFD and CSRD on the horizon, now is the time for companies to act and future-proof their sustainability strategies. Read the full interview here: https://lnkd.in/eQxVbhhr
Natcap is helping companies use world-class, low-cost information and data about nature to improve decision-making and drive business goals.
