Lichfields is proud to have secured approval for revised proposals at Solum’s Guildford Station scheme which will help transform a surface level car park into a new Station Quarter for Guildford with a new piazza and residential, office, retail and restaurant uses served by a MSCP. Early phases have already been completed pursuant to a planning approval granted on appeal in 2018. The latest permission relates to subsequent phases increasing the level of residential provision within the development. Working on behalf of Solum Regeneration, and in association with 3DReid Ltd architects, we worked closely with Guildford BC and statutory consultees to steer this complex scheme through the planning process. To understand how we can assist in repurposing your city centre assets, please contact Steven Butterworth and Dennis Pope.

Read Phil Mccarthy's latest blog which considers Green Development in the Grey Belt area. [link in comments] A revised National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) was published in late 2024, to much fanfare. There was particular enthusiasm regarding the introduction of the “grey belt” concept. At the time of publication, much of the noise around grey belt in popular press coverage focused on how this was designed to increase housing delivery and how this concept would lead to urban sprawl, open the floodgates to housing anywhere and everywhere and would concrete over the countryside etc. etc. (all the familiar, usually unfounded, arguments that are rolled out on these occasions). But, what about energy projects…?
