This afternoon, Innovate UK joins ADS Group Ltd and Farnborough Aerospace Consortium in celebrating the success of the National Aerospace Technology Exploitation Programme (NATEP). The Aerospace Growth Partnership developed NATEP, aimed at small and medium sized supplier to help them develop their own innovative technologies to enhance their capabilities and increase their ability to win new business with higher tier companies anywhere in the world. As a proven model for delivering funding (since 2013), NATEP was incorporated into the ATI Programme in 2017. NATEP 2 provided the opportunity to understand the requirements and challenges in scaling from a regional to a UK wide funding mechanism, whilst retaining the unique strengths of the programme. Since 2019, NATEP 3 has awarded £16.5 million total grant funding to 116 organisations, across 86 projects through 6 competitions. Whilst supporting industrial research in the supply chain, it has demonstrated the ability to pull fundamental research outcomes into the industrial domain by enabling partnerships between business and research organisations, and linking the SME community to large industrial end users.
