Today we have published a joint letter to the Chancellor, Rt Hon Rachel Reeves, sent last week ahead of the Autumn Budget. 👉https://lnkd.in/eV-5MJsT Our letter, signed by 64 health and care organisations, highlights the importance of working with people and communities, and the VCSE organisations representing them to democratise decision making in health and care. It puts forward three main asks for the Treasury: 🪙 Maintain VCSE Health and Wellbeing Alliance investment Maintaining investment in #HWAlliance will help continue a strong, strategic relationship with the VCSE. Through their networks, Alliance members serve as a key link with thousands of people experiencing health inequalities, communities and VCSE organisations across England. From April 2021 to March 2024, 1,415 VCSE organisations, faith groups and local community groups co-led or supported #HWAlliance projects You can see the wealth of research and insight projects undertaken by Alliance members via the resource library 👉https://lnkd.in/edU8TbzV 🩺 Introduce measures to reduce the health impact of the rising cost of living The cost of living crisis continues to take a terrible toll on people living in the most deprived areas of the country or from the most marginalised and minoritised groups. Our letter suggests a series of measures to help people stay healthy during this economic squeeze and to support the wider preventative agenda, including free prescriptions & access to an NHS dentist for all. 👛 Review legacy donation mechanisms VCSE organisations are increasingly reliant on legacy donations to do their vital work. We are hearing concerns from members that any planned changes to inheritance tax may impact on this key income stream, and urge the Government to consider this when reviewing approach to taxation.
