What is the key to effective leadership? In 2022, we came together as a sector to answer this question and understand how we can continue to build on the success of Roads Academy. Roads Academy was redesigned and re-launched, with a Federated Advisory Board consisting of leaders from across the value chain who work tirelessly to ensure our programmes continue to add value for all individuals, organisations and communities in the sector. Since then, we have nearly 500 leaders from 85 organisations benefitting from Roads Academy. Our programmes are Chartered Management Institute recognised, offering our learners professional recognition and a wealth of leading-edge resources. We are pleased to share that Roads Academy impact and value add has been acknowledged by being shortlisted for not one, but three esteemed awards! 🏅 CIPD - Best Learning and Development Initiative Award. 🏅 CIPS - The Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply - People Development Award. 🏅 Management Consultancies Association - People and Leadership Award. This is not only a triumph for Roads Academy, but a celebration of unity, collaboration and shared vision across our sector. Our fingers are crossed for the outcomes which will be announced later this year. We extend our thanks to each and every one of you who have been instrumental in propelling Roads Academy to the forefront of leadership development. This recognition belongs to you. Nick Harris, Chief Executive Officer of National Highways, perfectly captures our collective ambition: "In partnership with our supply chain, Roads Academy is dedicated to welcoming new and existing talent into the sector and equipping them with the skills for today and tomorrow. It's a pivotal aspect of our strategy for building capability." To benefit from our programme and be part of the legacy we are creating together, we invite you to join our community: ▶️ https://lnkd.in/etinCDKU #Leadership #ProfessionalDevelopment #LearningAndDevelopment David O'Neil, Claire L Seward, Phil Clifton, James Haluch, Matt Morphet, Lucy Fell CFIOSH FCIHT, Clive Leadbetter, Vicki Glover, Ibrar A., Tony Slater, Amy Williams, Rich Marshall CMgr FCMI, Kirsty Ryan, Katherine Beard, Dr. Ghaith Al-Werikat, MCIOB, CSM, Georgina Knockton, Hannah Bache, Racheal Frain

Designing for inclusion means designing for everyone. 📣 Introducing Digital Lab's first stimulus report 'Navigating Neurodiversity: Clearing the way to an Inclusive and Digital Road Network'. 🔍 We're sharing the research, which underpins our Access and Inclusion Approach, to explore the driving experience and challenges faced for those who are neurodiverse travelling on the Strategic Road Network. 🤝Our aim is to move the conversation beyond identifying hurdles and to energise organisations to collaborate, better utilising technology, data and policy to make sure everyone feels safe and in control of their journeys. ✨We recently brought the research to life with 8 organisations at an accessibility event. Follow us for more updates about the event experience over the next few weeks! 🔗 Be part of the change, download the report and join the conversation ▶️ https://lnkd.in/dUSN3hDQ #NavigatingNeurodiversity #DrivingInclusivity #AccessibilityMatters

On a 1.3-mile section of the A417, we’ve replaced the dashed centre line with a continuous double white centre line and installed over 600 LED solar road studs. But how will this improve safety? ✔️ Reinforces the Highway Code’s no overtaking rule ✔️ Highlights junctions and entry/exit slip roads ✔️ LED studs will improve visibility at night-time and in poor weather conditions Find out more here ➡️ https://lnkd.in/e7cjcwDK

Climate change is the biggest challenge in our sector... and we’re facing it head on. Our key tool in this fight is innovation, and we’ve partnered with the Connected Places Catapult to ensure that we can meet with small to medium-sized businesses who may have the solutions we need. As subject matter experts, these SMEs are perfectly placed to suggest new ideas that we may have never considered as a business. From recycling waste material from highways operations to new road surface materials, we’re open to every idea, and some may be taken forward and used in trials.
