⛵ Today we sail into Chichester Harbour for our Landscapes Revisited trip, celebrating the success of a saltmarsh restoration trial in in 2023. 📉 Saltmarsh is a key habitat within Chichester Harbour but it has declined by 58% since 1946 and continues to decline. 🤎 Working with partners, Chichester Harbour Conservancy trialled an innovative method to restore saltmarsh using dredged sediment. 🌱 A survey of the trial site shows that the placed sediment is at heights which should be suitable for saltmarsh plant colonisation and shoots of saltmarsh pioneer species glasswort have since developed on the site. 🌳 Your Natural Partner - Investing in landscape 📽️ Your Natural Partner is our showcase of investment-ready opportunities in National Landscapes. 📰 Today: Sparkling chalk streams of Lincolnshire 🤔 Did you know that around 80% of the world’s chalk streams are right here in the UK? As guardians of these globally-significant habitats, it’s vital that we restore them for the future and the Sparkling Chalk Streams project is the chance to do just that. The rolling hills of the Lincolnshire Wolds are spliced by beautiful and precious chalk stream habitat, but rather than buzzing with life and running clear, it is polluted and under intense pressure from man-made siltation and drainage. This project aims to reconnect Calceby Beck with its surrounding wetland habitats through: 🧑🤝🧑 community engagement 🔨 practical conservation work 🎓 university research ⛏️ archaeological surveys, and more. 📣 If your business wants to fund high-integrity and ambitious nature recovery, visit the Your Natural Partner website to find out more or chat to the team. https://lnkd.in/evDkiJwG #greenfinance #conservation #nature #invest #investinginnature #chalkstreams Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Natural England National Parks Partnerships Campaign for National Parks Big Chalk Wildlife and Countryside Link Royal Society of Wildlife Trusts Rewilding Britain

🎉 Happy St Piran's Day! Gool Peran Lowen! St Piran is the patron saint of Cornwall. Each year on St Pirans Day there is a pilgrimage to St Piran’s Cross, St Pirans Oratory and to Perran Beach (where St Piran arrived in Cornwall tied to a millstone), and parades and music in many Cornish Towns and villages. St Piran's Oratory is one of the 40 Scheduled Monuments being safeguarded as part of Cornwall National Landscape's 'A Monumental Improvement' project. It is on the Historic England's heritage at risk register, sadly, due to flooding which can reach up to 2m in depth. The Oratory is a small church, once thought to be the oldest building in Britain, with dates from the 11th/12th century CE, and burials at the site show that it was a Christian cemetery as early as 8th/9th century CE. As part of the project, the Cornwall National Landscape team will be working with St Piran's Trust to create a management plan for the monument and will be creating a dedicated webpage with historical information about the site and interactive features.
