🌳🌲🌳 Family-holiday-favourite Centre Parcs is launching a new location - just 60 miles from #Newcastle. 🌳 Congrats to our client Buccleuch Property on signing an option agreement to supply the land for the new holiday park. 🌳 The agreement covers approx 1,000 acres of land and the development is expected to extend to 400 acres. 🌳 The site lies near the A7 trunk road between Hawick and Selkirk and will be the first Centre Parcs site in #Scotland. 🌳 During construction, between 750 and 800 will be created, with local contractors used where possible. Once operational, the holiday village will supply 1,200 permanent, non-seasonal jobs. 🌳 The estimated investment to build the new village will be between £350m to £400m. 🔥 Well seen as though our Linkedin connections went wild for the post on our graduate surveyor, Tobias Morrison... ...Here's some more of his thoughts: What trends do you foresee shaping the future of commercial property in the UK? Sustainability is the big one. The industry is being shaped by key trends like the drive towards net-zero carbon emissions, with clients seeking buildings that have a minimal environmental impact.   How do you think technology will impact the surveying profession in the next few years? Technology continues to impact with drones and 3D scanners helping on inspections and viewing stages of surveying. If the implementation of 3D scanners such as the MatterPort carries on, then maybe in person viewings will slow down with more prospective tenants being able to view their desired property online or even have a virtual walkthrough via VR Headsets.   If you had to describe your job using a movie title, what would it be? Die Hard.    Where do you see you see yourself in 5 years within the commercial property sector? In 5 years, I see myself being well settled in to being a chartered surveyor and hope to have a positive impression on the local industry. It would be great to lead on bigger deals and be in a role within the business where I’m not only closing deals, but also shaping strategies for the continued growth of the company. Id also like to be better at golf if I’m honest. I am yet to win an industrial agent golf day, but there’s plenty time!   What’s one piece of advice you would give to someone considering a career in commercial property surveying? Get started on building a network for yourself and get as much experience as possible, whether that be an internship or even a week’s work experience in a local property firm. Be curious and adaptable, don’t feel shy to ask questions.   #surveying #surveyors #surveyor #commercialproperty #Newcastle #graduatesurveyor Jane Loxley Northumbria University

As a business, we're evolving all the time. Nothing stands still. We have to adapt quickly to the market and to our changing clients' needs. With that in mind, we've just completed some work updating the information about the 10 services that we offer. It is attached as a PDF here but also as a flipbook in the comments - because everyone loves a flip format, right 😄 Let us know what you think. Thanks to the brilliant Andrea Murphy for the design. #team #commercialproperty #commercialrealestate #ourservices #surveyors Chris Pearson Chris Donabie Keith Stewart Angus White

🎓 We have found over the years that recruiting graduate surveyors straight from university is much more effective for us, as a business, than taking on graduate surveyors from other firms. Tobias Morrison is a shining example of this tried-and-tested recruitment move! So, we asked Tobi to tell us a bit about his career so far and his thoughts on the industry. If you could survey any famous landmark in the UK, which would it be and why? Battersea Power Station. Its like a 'grand designs' project on steroids. It's turned a historic industrial giant into a modern hotspot. It's a fascinating blend of history, architecture, and modern regeneration which although would be extremely challenging to survey, would also be a great experience and one to remember.   Describe your most memorable project so far? Whilst on placement, I completed a deal in Washington which stood out particularly from the speed of the transaction. From showing the tenant round at the viewing to handing over the keys, it only took 24 days. Fingers crossed deals like this happen again!   What is a common misconception people have about surveyors in commercial property? That all we do is play golf, socialise, or drive around all day. Although that happens quite a lot, we do get up to much more and sometimes our job can be a bit stressful.   Which skills do you believe are essential for a successful career in commercial property surveying? Having an up-to-date understanding of the market/industry is essential. Being able to advise clients on their queries with the latest data and market knowledge is key. Also, confidence and great time management. There is nothing more embarrassing than being late to a viewing. Not that I would know… #commercialproperty #surveyors #surveying Northumbria University Jane Loxley #commercialrealestate #graduate #graduatesurveyor

🛍 It’s great to see Harrogate continue holding its top spot as a strong retail location.   🛍 Fergus Laird's home town has some major upmarket brands like The Ivy, Betty’s Tearoom, Jo Malone and Rituals as well as tons of charming, independent retailers which make it a ‘destination’ experience. 🛍 On behalf of our client MNB Properties our investment team has sold 34-36 Parliament Street – let to three tenants at a total annual rent of £55,000 – to a private buyer.   🛍 Retail property investments are not common in Harrogate and this one was snapped up by a local investor pretty swiftly.   #realestateinvestor #realestateinvesting #investmentproperty #propertysales #retailproperty #propertyinvestor #Harrogate Chris Donabie Nicholas Bord

We are very happy to welcome a new business to Newcastle... Access Training Academies has chosen our brilliant city to be the home of its 18th UK training centre. Access is the UK's leading trade training provider and trains in gas, construction, plumbing and electrics. MD at Access, Jamie Jefferies, says the company has had its sights set on Newcastle since it started expanding from its original base in Wales. Our office agent Ellie Combe was tasked with finding the firm a suitable space... Access has chosen to lease the whole of the second floor (3,000 sq. ft.) at Blandford Studios, Blandford Square. The space, owned by Hanro, will be used to train electricians. #training #trainingprovider #trades #commercialproperty The Hanro Group Laura Lloyd Jamie Jefferies #WelcomeToNewcastle Invest Newcastle

My colleague Jessica Ross has penned her thoughts of how our Georgian gem, Grey Street, picked itself back up after losing many big name tenants to the Quayside in the late 90's. An interesting read. #offices #OfficesinNewcastle #business North East Times

"The Quayside’s gain was Grey Street’s loss," says Jessica Ross as she looks back on how AMEC's £170m regeneration of the Quayside in the late 90's "knocked the North East’s most-sought-after business address off the top spot." And, most importantly, how the Street came back stronger to regain the city's headline office rents and become a hot spot for some of the world's leading tech brands. Judy George of Buccleuch Property & Laura Lloyd from The Hanro Group tell us about their motivations to invest in Grey Street and restore some of its former glory.
